@RogerioFM: And let them, as long as cosmetic only, let the whales fund the developement of future enhancements. As long as all content, and game mechanic features are included in the purchase to everyone.
@rawkstar007: Meh, microtransactions are fine. As long as they are done right.....cosmetic mtx only.
I can support pure cosmetic MTX microtransactions. No to stash space, No to xp boosters, No crafting materials or time savers.
But pure cosmetic , that fit the aesthetics of the game that add to a freely available consmetic system sounds fine to me.
Every season, they could add a new theme to gameplay elements, and sell matching cosmetic microtransactions, as well as free ones you earn for achievments in game.
@spectrexr1: Because if the game had an offline component, then there is a server running PC side.
This gives a sandbox for hackers to attack the server for exploints/vulnerabilites without detection.
Think about a Lock with a very advanced locking mechanism. It has tamper sensors to alarm if anyone is trying to pick it. So if a person tried to pick it, they would have no idea how, and every time they tried...they went to jail and couldnt try again.
That is online only.
Now think about the same scenario, but this time the person had a replica of the lock and mechanism with no alarms or sensors they could take home. Sure it wouldn't open the door, but now they can practice until they find how to pick the lock without detection. Or find a flaw they can use to bypass any alarms/sensors.
Now they have unlimited tries/time to perfect the attempt.....and can take that experience to easily defeat the real lock, as they know exactly how it works.
Thats online/offline.
By allowing you to run the server locally on your PC, you are giving hackers access to it, make it much easier to bypass the security set up. They can fully study the server setup, find exploits/weaknessess/avenues to attack the online server. Sure its not 100% by making it offline only, but it tilts the cat and mouse game in Blizzards favor by a huge margin.
I am 100% fine with online only mode to play in. I dont want cheaters/hackers or duped items in the economy. Although, having a seperate offline mode would be fine, with the only problem is it gives a sandbox for hackers to test for exploits.
@thedarklinglord: I have to agree with you on this. I want to like this game so bad. Finger on the trigger to purchase....concept is fine.....looks wonderful. But the more streams I watch....the more i feel like i don't think i could stand it for very long....feels too slowish.
Other than Tombraider legend thats worth the 6.99, nothing but shovel ware. Your mileage may vary....Wont try that again.
EDIT - Looking into some of these titles, actually a few that might get an hour or two of enjoyment.....so worth the price of admission.....The signal from tlva and human fall flat look kind of entertaining.
