Paradox make the ultimate macro games. Try Arsenal of Democracy: A Hearts of Iron Game (ww2) or for the glory (1491? to the 19th century). Franko_3
Those look really good, but also super hardcore. Is Sins easy to get into?

Anyone have any good suggestion for an RTS that's pretty heavy on macro, and a little lower on the micro side? I was looking for a RTS that makes you think on a grander scale more than it has you managing individual units, not to say I want a game that's really slow on the action (like TW is in my opinion). I heard a SupCom 2 came out recently, but I can't really tell a lot from the demo, and atleast from a couple of posts, I heard it's nothing like the first one. Does anyone have any good suggestions for some recent titles, or even some older ones?

let me answer your questions. get the 21.5" version since the 23.6" version is sold out. the smaller one also has a better pixel refresh rate of 2ms compared to 5ms on the bigger set. the lower the number, the less ghosting and motion blur will be produced by fast images. this is a must for gamers and sports enthusiasts.

as for the the coax to hdmi converter: yes and no. you can get an hd cable box from your local company and pay them for it and the service every month. or you could get a tivo box and pay tivo a monthly service fee but you will be limited to the local.broadcast channels. another option would be to get a tv tuner card for your pc that has a ClearQAM/ATSC/NTSC tuner. something like this. you wouldn't need to use the hdmi cable, just the VGA or the DVI cable and the other two inputs would be free for a video game console. this is a pci-e x1 card, there are pci versions and external usb solutions. as for the no in the answer, that no is if you were asking for a way to connect a coaxial cable to a converter box and use an hdmi cable for free. for free, no. ironically, this is what a cable box does but you have to pay the company to decrypt the digital and standard channels.

Thanks for the great info! I appreciate the assistance, and I will definitely look into the tuner option.

I was looking at these two fantastic monitors:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824236052
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6824236051

And of course they are they same thing, very closely priced, except one has a screen that is larger by 1.5". I would obviously buy the 23" one, but the only problem is that my desk has a niche specifically designed for a monitor 22" and below and I would like to keep the monitor in that niche. However, I would like to know if 1.5" is a really huge difference, as I will be using my monitor as a TV, computer screen, and a screen for my consoles. This means I will be using it at a range from 1' to 6' when I actually care about the picture quality (for TV, it's going through a coax anyway, and I'm already okay with a 19" for television). If the difference is significant, I could always move it a little out of the niche, but it just wouldn't be as comfortable of a setup.

Oh, and a quick but important question (that I'm finding inconclusive answers to): could I convert the Coax signal to HDMI in any possible way, and is it possible to split a HDMI signal (like a KVM does with a VGA adapter)? If not, I could always find an old set that's just collecting dust.

Thanks.

Can someone point to articles about new console development? From what I've heard, it will be a really long while until anything new even begins to surface.

[QUOTE="jessesalinas"] its better because it.... (gasp) is an amazing game 9.5.....deal with it. :)jessesalinas

360 standards are miles lower than ps3 games when it comes to exclusive quality that needs to be reached, 360 games are not that far from wii standards.

what? 360 standards are not far from wii standards? LOL i dont even know how to respond to this. :?

Even if your arguments were not unfounded and completely off kilter, you're user picture would make me not believe a single thing that you post.

I've been hearing about a great shift that is going to take place from the usual compiled code of C++ (and I guess C?) to interpretted languages, and the only one I can come up with is C# with its XNA libraries (and I doubt that library is used in commercially developed games). I'm no expert in the industry of software development, just an avid hobyist, but can someone tell me what the future of games will be in the relation to the platfrom they are developed on? I have only heard of games being develped in C++ (of course with the use of custom engines, like Unreal). And I'm drawing a blank for any game that is developed in Java, C#, etc. (the only one that can be put into consideration is Runescape...but I won't even begin to consider that), so can anyone tell me of any games that are being developed in these languages? Can someone point me to a reference where they see that the future of games are on these interpretted languages?

And P.S.: A little off topic, but can someone tell me whether software in general is moving away from the lower level languages to higher level ones?

[QUOTE="samuraiguns"] multitasking/threaded applications, opening files and video encoding.samuraiguns

What are threaded applications and can I have examples of a few? And would these applications impact gaming, and which specific applications would they impact (just a few examples please)? Thank you so much for your help.

lol, It is multi-threaded, not just threaded. Crysis, Adobe After Effects, 3D Mark Vantage and WinRAR are all example of a multi-threaded application.

Alright, thank you very much for all this information! I really appreciate your help.

So what does the i7 do so much better than the AM3 that the AM3 struggles at?
