The train was terribly slow and tedious to navigate with. I don't know which game designer thought it was a good idea for a game that has traditionally had open-ended overworlds to restrict you to silly train tracks. The dungeons were all pretty good, albeit a little bit on the easy side.

Ah, I see. That blows, but thanks for the answer anyways.I think you do need it for when you're playing as Bowser.

My microphone is actually broken (not sure how it broke, but it's been preventing me from playing games like Spirit Tracks and... Nintendogs I guess?), but recently I bought a game, the game being Bowser's Inside Story, but in-game, I noticed an option on the menu called mic test. Is a microphone required to beat the game (like in Spirit Tracks), or is it just used for some unnecessary special attack or something?
EDIT: Making it easier to read since I copy/pasted this from somewhere else.
