Thanks for the additional info, Rod90! I just ordered two wireless GC controllers, a memory card for GC games, a SDHC card for VC and WiiWares (I already have Helix & World of Goo!), and a copy of WindWaker. When the controllers arrive, I will get OoT. I should be set!

The Punch Out that will be released is a completely new game, sort of a remake of the original. The one on the VC is the original NES version. There will not be a release of Ocarina of Time for the Wii (nor will be Windwaker get a Wii release). If you want to play those two games, you could get the special edition of the Windwaker for the Gamecube which includes a bonus disc featuring Ocarina of Time. It's quite hard to find though, so it would most likely be cheaper to get the regular version of the Windwaker and but Ocarina of Time on the VC.

Thank you so much! I guess I will invest in some Gamecube controllers& get the VC Ocarina & GC Windwaker now. My teenage son will beglad - he has been enjoying Twilight Princess.

Thanks again to everyone for answering my questions - it has been really helpful. I have never played video games before (I am 49) & am so surprisedby how much I've loved the Wii games so far...I am a boardgame player but my family doesn't always have time to play games & I don't like to play boardgames solitaire & have really liked playingWii games by myself. Just wish I had more free time :). I have also really fallen for Gold's Gym Cardio - very fun & tough!

Well, now that I have had my Wii for almost 2 whole weeks, I am learning a bit about games, etc. but now have another related question :). It seems like older cube games are being released in Wii format (Pikmin, MarioKart, etc or Ocarina of Time on VC). I wouldn't mind waiting for a Wii version of Zelda Windwaker if it ever will be done. Is there a way to find out if Nintendo will be doing this one for Wii? I tried researching the answer but am confused by this type of thing (we have never had a video game system). I don't want to start getting Gamecube games just for the Wii if I can get them in an eventual Wii-specific verson. Again, TIA!

Bumping - to add to my confusion : I just found Punch Out on WiiWare and now a disc version has just come out for Wii. So, will these older Nintendo games eventually become available on a Wii disc format? Now I am wondering if I should just not get Ocarina on VC and not get Windwaker Gamecube if I can just wait for a regular Wii release (a disc so that I will not need a memory card or a Gamecube or classic controller)?? I have a bunch of good games already to try so am not in a rush to get these but do want them eventually for the Wii. I am getting more confused ! Any info for me?

TIA!

"Player's Choice" just means that the game has sold a certain amount of copies (usually over 1 million or so), and therefore it's being sold for a reduce price, usually $19.99. It's the same deal as the "Greatest Hits" label that appears on some PS2 games. The game content for "Player's Choice" titles is exactly the same, though, so it doesn't matter which one you get. If they're different prices, just get the cheaper one.PoindeJ

Thank you!!

So, now I have a question about buying Zelda Wind Waker...are there any differences between the different packages? I see two different versions where one version says "players choice". TIA!

We are new to the Wii and have only Wii remotes & nunchuks right now. I would like to download Super Mario World & I understand that I need a "classic" controller for that. I also want to get Zelda Windwaker. So, do I need a Gamecube controller for Windwaker? I read reviews on Amazon for various Wii controllersand am not sure I understand all this correctly. Would a controller such as "Shockwave Wireless 2.4GHZ Controller" work for both of these (as well as for any VC or gamecube games that need controllers)? It looks like there are two different brands for this same typeof controller on Amazon (Phantiq & Nyko). Since we are new to video gaming, I would like to get the minimum types of controllers needed for any kind of games on the Wii!

Also, for Windwaker, do I just buy a gamecube version of the game and it will just play in the Wii? TIA!!

Thank you, wiifan001!! That does help a lot! The Call of Duty-type games are going to be the tough ones to decide on. DS & DH want to play this type of game together. Thanks again!
