People really need to stop comparing this to MMO launches or saying console games always go through this. Please pull up one article for a console game that wasn't an MMO that had this many problems with its multiplayer aspect.
They are very very rare to find because it barely ever happens.
Online Games is not what Rockstar is known for.
You think this launch was bad? Look at FF14:ARR, It was so bad to the point that Sony was refunding people for a game they didn't create or helped create, because Square-Enix fucked up massively and didn't want to refund anyone...but hey, They gave you an extra 7 free days!
Long story short. Rockstar fucked up using Cloud Servers. They had 5 years to work out the major bugs. They also had two weeks to fix everything, but didn't work as hard because ya know..1 Billion Dollars in 3 days. GTA 4's Online wasn't like this at all, nether was RDR's Online.
What really makes me laugh....Rockstar has you thinking they are hooking you up by saying "GTA Online is Free...even though Multiplayer has always been free in our games, but for this one, we really want to pull in the sheep and act like we are really doing them a solid by telling them GTA Online is free even though Multiplayer in our games has always been free, like most games during the last for the last 20 or so years!"
