what you would need is a program like set affinity. I have a dual core 3ghz cpu, and what I've done, is put all of the main computer tasks on one core (like explorer and all that stuff), and I have the other cpu for games and entertainment stuff, that way, when you play a game, you get a great performance boost, as you have a whole cpu just to run the game. Playing Doom 3, it brought me from like 11-15 fps, to in the 50's or 60's.
