I've had this problem on Windows Vista, you right click on the Sims 2 Icon and you click run as administrator. This fixed my problem, but I don't really know what to do if your using XP.
I have recently purchased a Game-spot Total Access subscription and I was wondering if it was possible to change things like your Name and age without effecting your credit card details. Basically I'm only 14 years only and I do not own a credit card, I use my moms instead. All her personal information comes up on my profile and I would like a way to change it so that I can edit the preferences so I can put my info instead on my moms. I would really appreciate any feedback and a solution to this problem without having to hide my identity. Thanks Fil.
