The Computer case and airflow can play a huge role in temps too. But if you cant get a new case this is a cheap fix for your problem.

what is this? how does it work? how do i know if it will work with my rig?

Well it gets placed in one of the pci slots under your gpu, then it has a fan that draws cool air from the bottom of the case and blow air on the gpu fan, then it also has a exhaust fan to collect any hot air that your gpu puts into your case.

ah, gotchya. ill definitely look into it. but do you have any idea why a pre-built computer would come like this? it is a gaming pc made by gateway

whenever i run medal of honor or any other game with next gen graphics my gpu hits a high of like 104-105 degrees celcieus. it runs at 60-70 degrees idle. the only time i can play is when the weather outside allows for it, i can only play these kinds of games on a cold day and even then the gpu still runs at like 80-90 degrees. i know people say taking the cover off will make it worse but i took it off anyway and i pointed a fan directly at my gpu and it seemed to help a little bit. i tried cleaning the gpu but its hard because the gpu has like a weird hard case on it and i cant really clean off its surface, its an nvidia 9800 gt. anyone have any suggestions?

edit: btw, this is a stock computer. i didnt build it so all the parts should coincide with each other nicely, right?

lol this is an odd forum to be asking help with this problem but whatever, i figure the more forums i post on the better chance i have at an answer :}.

anyway,by 'competes' i mean it lowers if i play some other form of sound media on my computer, such as sounds from a video game. the volume will be normal but if i fire my gun or something in the game the music on itunes will lower for a brief moment and rise again once the gunfire has stopped. if this doesnt make sense let me know so i can explain it better. otherwise, anyone know what the problem could be? thanks.

[QUOTE="bobbetybob"]Except that it's a pretty silly philosophy because even though yes, there is probably a child in Africa who's starving to death, if you break your back that's not going to comfort you that much...bobbetybob

yeah you're right. it wouldnt really comfort me if i had broken my back. i guess this is just more for little things like. if you get a bad grade on a test or your gf breaks up with you, its okay because someone just broke their back or is starving. most of the stuff we get worked up about is superficial compared to a lot of other people

Yeah I was actual going to put that after what I wrote, that this is definitely true for trivial things, people definitely not to think before they moan about little things that are really quite insignificant and they probably won't even remember in a few years.

yeah i guess thats more of what i was thinking about when i first thought it. i never really thought about what you said. i still say thinking this way can work wonders though ;]

[QUOTE="Brainkiller05"]If I lose a leg i should be happy because somewhere some guy just lost two legs? oh lawdu

i guess it wouldnt make me feel happy but once i accepted it it would comfort me a great deal knowing that at least i can still walk and stand uppright with an artifical leg and he will never be able to know what it feels like to walk ever again.
