First one was mediocre so I'm not jazzed for a sequel. LOTR brand deserves more love I think, more games. I'm sure this one will be better, but I want to see more LOTR games, maybe ARPG's or what have you. Something with some meat to it, something more challenging.
Yes it's weak, the whole first year is weak at the moment, and that's an understatement. This is the same thing they've been saying so there's no news really. The only reason they have this statement prepared is because things obviously don't look good. It doesn't change the fact they couldn't wait to get the console out and were willing to release it before it was ready; which is both good and bad - good in that they were confident in the hardware specifically.
In terms of software I see no incentive to buy the console for at least a year, but that's just me, however the Switch is selling well at the moment so there's no reason why people can't be optimistic for it's eventual catalogue. There's still a grey area in terms of how capable the system is and how scaleable current gen titles are; it appears to have enough headroom for higher resolutions. I want to see what they do with Steep and Skyrim.
It's a bit of a shame because most of the issues highlighted in both positive and negative reviews are things Massive have acknowledged and have proven capable of changing easily. I essentially boycotted Ubi for the better part of a decade because even including most Clancy titles I didn't really believe their games were worth the asking price any more. The Division is a decent game, and I never saw it coming. I thought Ubiflaccid was just going to be generally awful forever.
Anyway's..
A fun support build load out.
Talents:
Critical Save, Triage, Battle Buddy/Strike Back and Tech Support (Cool down reductions/defensive buffs)
Skills:
Support Station 'Ammo Cache Skill Mod' Infinite Team Ammo, Team Health Recovery, Extended heal aura radius, Team Cool down reductions
Smart Cover 'Recharger Mod' Team Cover dmg resist buff, dmg buff. Health Recovery. Reduced Cool downs
Survivor Link: 80% Damage Resist, 30 % Movement Speed Increase. Affects team.
Stat Priorities: 1st Electronics 2nd Firearms 3rd Stamina
Virtually no skill cool downs and your signature skill is available every couple minutes 'Critical Save synergy.' The point is to reinforce the team and support the players taking point. You will also be able to god mode your team mates out of any worst case scenario because your signature skill is consistently available with the proper skill rotation. Your health bar is essentially smart cover+support station so never leave them under any circumstances with combat in sight. It'll be hard to meet most gear talents.
@jcharp: I thought all of the clutch moments that make combat a rush would start to dissipate when I got to end game, but it just keeps getting more interesting. Really getting that rpg high. I think I would recommend players slack off a bit on side quests and main missions so they have more than just loot driving their end game until the incursion update. After the PCX nerf however no one should be worried about a major lack of content when that time comes, you'll be loot chasing for ages and challenging missions require a lot of progression in that area - challenging being a primary source of PCX income.
@NorseLax09: Level 30 is inevitable. Don't be afraid to get your feet wet before then, so you know what to expect when you get in the deep end. You may even come away with some fresh loot for your level - yes - the 30 cap is when it gets real though.
Actually, Dark Souls 2 is a game about vicious cycles. Dark Souls 1 is not.
Is the magic fading? No, it's been a looong time since Dark Souls 1 and a lot of series fans are hoping that 3 captures the best parts of Demon Souls and Dark Souls with the fresh coat of paint ala Bloodborne. On every level Dark Souls 1 is the last traditional souls game of the quality we expect when Miyazaki's name is synonymous with the product. Bloodborne is great but it takes off in another direction. Dks2 also has its own strengths but not as a souls game.
It's been a test of faith for original fans.
Coming from someone who owns every single souls game. I think I speak for a few when I say I hope Dark Souls 3 is the sequel we've been waiting for. (Going by the beta, not sheer delusion.)
I wouldn't even hesitate to buy a 'partially' remastered Star Wars Battlefront 2 - it wouldn't even be fuelled by nostalgia, that's a good game. I love Star Wars, I love Battlefront! This new game..I tried the beta. I've seen the vanilla game now..I'm not sure I could buy in. The original Battlefront looked like shit when it came out, why is it a beloved franchise then? Because of the content and game play. Graphics are a big bonus imo; I didn't realize that a Battlefront game was the coveted holy grail of representing visual prowess on new hardware.
