[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] And people that like them have a right to be upset without you jumping on them and coming to the rescue of GS. You are an apologist for the amount of time you argued over this.The-Apostle

People have no right to me not jumping on them for a p. outmoded feature that isn't used, and spending time arguing on a specific point doesn't make me an apologist for the organization at large. Jesus, you are a fvcking dolt.

Sure we do.

According to whom, pal?

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] No that is reserved for you....you don't even know what you're doing. You went back and forth arguing with TheApostle that GS was right etc. In fact...I think you even accused a few users of whining about unions. You certainly are and apologist....and an idiot.;)LJS9502_basic

They are right to drop unions at this point b/c, well, they don't do sh!t. They are a niche thing. They have to get their basic sh!t in order for once. Maybe they can do nice things after that, but they are in serious need of a real overhaul. The fact that you think that agreeing w/ GameSpot on one thing makes me an apologist even when I am far more critical of the organization's management than approving demonstrates the point quite clearly: you are quite dull.

[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"] Damn dude....how much are you paid to be a cheering section?LJS9502_basic

Cheering for the most antiquated POS gaming news sites around? LOL. I'm here for entertainment provided by the boards. The site is woefully mismanaged (e.g., they wouldn't have to drop unions if they, IDK, had a few decent programmers keeping their site functional on the main boards, let alone things like unions, etc.)

I pretty much said that they are in business to make money. That is a neutral statement. If they were about to slash my favorite part of GS, I wouldn't be b!tching about how they will lose SO MUCH MONEY if they weren't. I would call them greedy bastards (which, they are), and I am surprised the union folks haven't been doing.

Yes cheering. You seem to be a GS apologist.

Anyway, the whole thing SCREAMS overhead reduction, and this is driven home HARD by the sig sizes. That said, a functional forum p. much outweighs that all.

Allicrombie

I might buy that if they werent planning on removing paid subscription plans.

1. That is not overhead expenditure. That is revenue.

2. If they made decent money off of them, they'd keep them.

GS has lost a lot of traffic over the yearsLJS9502_basic

That is in no small part b/c CBS Interactive forgot that they can't just put up a website and expect it to run as-is forever. It's like they weren't even trying.

[QUOTE="The-Apostle"] That's a lie. And the real reason they're dropping unions in the first place is because they're lazy and don't give a crap.LJS9502_basic

It isn't a lie. They give a crap about money. The amount of money they get has to do DIRECTLY with the amount of page views. That they are dropping unions indicates that they aren't making money off of them (at least not enough to justify maintenance expenditures - and some of the page views will simply be replaced by union users posting elsewhere on the site anyway) which indicates that they are not being used.

If they WERE used, they would keep them alive for money, PERIOD.
