Rome is still my favorite Total War game and it's definitely in my top 10 of all games I have played. Actually just started up a new campaign last week and that's all I have been playing since. Medieval 2 is really good too, pretty much improved everything from Rome, graphics, ai, gameplay etc. I think I just like the era of RTW more though. I could never really get into Empire all that much, probably only played 15-20 hours (compared to well over 200 on RTW and 100 on Medieval 2).

Is it really a surprise to anyone? They didn't want to allow dedicated servers because they want to sell DLC. If it's like WaW for the 360, you are essentially forced to buy the map packs if you actually want to play multiplayer without bouncing from lobby to lobby looking for a game thats about to start on the maps you do have. Then you might get a round in, and be booted when it changes maps because you don't it.

Consoles. Cheaper to do direct ports from the xbox and just tweak a few things for keyboard/mouse.

I think that the devs are getting ready to really push the pay DLC for PC games. Which IMO is the only reason IW doesn't want dedicated server support for MW2, they want to sell map packs for the next few years and make more money off their game. I think that a lot of PC gamers aren't going to like this, but its not going to stop some people from forking over the money for it...probably more than enough for them to justify the loss in sales of the games.

Many games now are really lacking in the story department. They pretty much just slap together a story that is based around the mechanics after they have already developed the game.

I don't see things changing any time soon though, gaming is huge money now and the focus has shifted from a smaller audience that had high expectations to a mass market approach. Game devs now want simple addictive games that anyone can play.

I know you can buy Oblivion on Steam (I have it on Steam and retail), but that does not mean retail supports Steam.

Any game will "support" steam. It's just a DX overlay and shortcuts. I think what you are trying to say is that retail CD keys will not work if you try to register it with steam.

It's the best mod I've played this year.

Same here, I would go as far to say its one of the best if not the best mods for HL2 since its been released.

singleplayer? co-op? team deathmatch?

Please, tell us more!

mrbojangles25
It's multiplayer only, mostly a mode called capture the ghost which is like capture the flag, but there is only one "ghost" per map, and it spawns in random places. Picking it up gives you the ability to see all the enemy players positions, but they can always see where the ghost is...adds a pretty interesting teamplay element.

I haven't seen much talk about this mod at all which surprises me. I've been playing for about a week and I haven't played anything else. If i had to compare it to other games, its somewhat like CS mixed with Rainbow Six...but really fun...lol. There are three classes, Recon, Assault, and Support. And they all actually work together really well. The devs inspiration is Ghost in the Shell, so if you are familiar with that you will definitely recognize it's influence. For a mod the maps are amazing, the game is relatively bug free and it could easily be sold imo. I figured i might toss it out there for people that are looking for a new mod to play. I would highly recommend you check it out.
