I picked up Oblivion game of the year edition just to mess around with mods on the PC. My disc drive keeps messing up or maybe its the disc, is it possible to use the CD-Key from the box version of Oblivion to download it through steam?

It won't, the game does not support Steam, and I doubt Bethesda will just implement Steam support.Ill try anothet ime or two to see if it will work

steam is not a community service group,
lets suppose you walk into BestBuy, paid them 30 bucks and bought TES4. that 30 bucks will go to bestbuy and bethesda. (notice how valve is not getting any of that 30 bucks you paid.)
now you approach to steam (valve) and claiming that they should offer you the lifetime service of letting you download throught their servers.
Im going to try another time or two..Mystery323xI meant im going to try to get the disks to work one more time later on

[QUOTE="drg0nzo1"]http://store.steampowered.com/app/22330/ I know you can buy Oblivion on Steam (I have it on Steam and retail), but that does not mean retail supports Steam. Any game will "support" steam. It's just a DX overlay and shortcuts. I think what you are trying to say is that retail CD keys will not work if you try to register it with steam.[QUOTE="fudgeblood"] It won't, the game does not support Steam, and I doubt Bethesda will just implement Steam support.fudgeblood

You don't just get support for the game because you have the Steam overlay that does absolutely nothing to/for your game and the shorcuts are meaningless.
It would be great if more games could be registered on Steam, or made specifically for Steam like DOW 2, E: TW, but...
