I'm an abselutly huge Kombat fan, and I have been since the birth of the series way back in the early 90's. But if this is the last game you are going buy for almost a year then I would not recommend Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. It was a rushed game that choices quantity over quality, and it get pretty boring pretty fast. If you want a good PS2 Kombat game then try Mortal Kombat: Deadly Aliance or Mortal Kombat: Deception.
I'm not sure if I could name my top three crap games without giving it serious consideration, but I think Crusty Demons deserves to be on the list. With all due respect, it did try to bring something new the the xtreme sports genre of video games by basing the game on bails more than stunts. Unforunatly it failed miserably, and only sucseeding in becoming one of the most annoying games that I have played in recent years.
Biffy The Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds. Great game, but unfortunatly I bought it second and and it skips, so it will be going back to the the store very soon.
