atWar

Atwar (previously known as aftereind) game was started by 2 brothers in 2010, it is a risk/chess like turn based game, where a player takes control of territories and its army, then expands and conquers different territories. You are required to beat other players who are playing in the same game, between 1 and 19 other players, in any one game. The game has many different scenarios, such as ancient maps, roleplay maps, modern world maps.... the variety is amazing with a whole community of map makers in the game that make the maps for the love of the game.

Games can last anywhere between 30 mins to 2hrs+ and players are given a number of units to utilise, (I.E. Sea transport, tanks, etc) and it is your job to use these to eliminate any opponents in the game. In game diplomacy also adds to the dynamics of the game, as you able to propose alliances and declare war, this gives the game different challenges and ensures every game is unique, however can be considered sometimes unfair when it is 3 players v 1 player. This can be countered though by making team games, and players can join clans and play in clan wars against other clans in the game. AtWar clan wars really are legendary.

If you require state of the art graphics in your games, go and play your xbox one, this isn't the game for you. However the game is highly addictive and challenging and also great fun to play with a predominantly friendly community, based on a 2D grapic system. It really does not need amazing graphics to be as fun as it is.

At-War is completely free to play and always will be with no adverts in game, there is options to purchase premium which unlocks other features of the game, such as unlocking maps and getting more points rewarded after unlocking higher grade medals, however until you start to take the game more seriously, there is no need and just to play for fun without premium is fine, your opponents who do pay, have very little advantage, just more variety. There are a number of subscriptions available with in the game.

In terms of game mechanics, it is really simple to learn, there is a learning curve, but other players and the tutorial will get you playing efficiently in no time, the only drawbacks are the servers, which sometimes do drop, but on the whole the platform is stable, it's a great game, try it :D
