I'm sorry, but this couldn't be more false. I also have the original 60 GB fat PS3 and my fans have done the same thing for as long as I can remember. Especially since playing games that use plenty of the consoles resources. It's just the machine cooling itself down, that's all. As long as you have it in a spot that it gets plenty of ventilation you don't have anything to worry about. Game on brother!!![QUOTE="Supes_24"][QUOTE="kingoflife9"]
its on its death bed. when the fans get loud its a sign the console is overheating, it will crap out on you very soon but look on the bright side, it lasted you the entire gen and now you can pre order the ps4. my suggestion is trade it in to gamestop before it really does die on you and pre order the ps4 with the money.
all of my friends ps3s that did that died on them within a month.

True there. This is my 3rd PS3, and the last two had the fans running all the time, although the new one doesn't make noise at all. What the problem is that you're playing in a hot and stuffy environment, so put your PS3 in an open area and switch on the AC to cool it down. Or else, don't play the PS3 for 3-4 days (that might be difficult with the Last of Us on your hands:P) and try to keep the temperature in the room as low as possible for the time being and then play again.
so, are you saying 'true that' to which of the two comments?
and if this is you're on your 3rd ps3, maybe the fan getting noisy ain't the best thing for the system?
anyway, my ps3 is placed in an open-like cabinet, that is open from the front and back, and not the sides,
it's not too cramped on the sides (about 4 inches of space) but it's not an open area.
the back of the ps3 has an open area in front of it.
which of the ps3's sides should face an open area if only one exists, the back side or the right hand side?
