I was really looking forward to how GameSpot would put lipstick on this pig. Ah well, thanks for being truthful GameSpot, honestly, I was wondering if you still had it in ya...
Loot boxes are boring, lazy, and prone to nefarious uses by developers and publishers. Asking the question if they're so bad is to flirt with a concept that is hollow and completely uninteresting.
This is a bummer. Loved going to Toys r Us as a child and I also bought the first Zelda game on the NES there. Good times. Looks like Toys r Us struggled to service debt from a buyout in 2005 along with failing to adapt to the changing online purchasing landscape. On top of those things, they had major brick and mortar chains Wallmart and Target to deal with, both which are solvent and have demonstrated far better agility and adaptability in the retail and online markets. RIP.
I won't be buying anything on the Nintendo e-shop because I don't have a Switch. Why don't I have a switch? Because there's none to buy. Nearly 5 months since launch, and no switches in stores anywhere. Ever. /golfclap
I like the idea. I think there is a marketplace for traditional gaming consoles that are more of a game machine than mini PC. Hope they can execute this product well and be successful.
