@videogameninja: The Sega Genesis was a must have for me. It had the coolest arcade classics like Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Splatterhouse 2 and 3, The Revenge of Shinobi, Strider, Afterburner, Thunder Blade, Double Dragon, and Pit Fighter (the SNES version was horrible). Of course I also had an SNES...and a Turbografx 16 (my personal favorite) at the time. The memories of those consoles remind me of why I've enjoyed games now for 36 years.

@Vodoo: I remember. Blood and fatalities returned in MK2 on SNES. I got the Genesis version for the same reason, but it needed a code for the blood to work. Still, in my opinion, the sound and graphics for MK1 were better on SNES than Genesis to me. Good memories.

Good news, but MK on Nintendo is nothing new. What is surprising is that the Wii U never got MK 9 and X.
