Because Diablo 2 existed...

The EverQuest maniacs I raided with in WoW had nothing for praise for what the game did for the genre. Meanwhile the Diablo 2 players who played Diablo 3 thought it was shit and just wanted to go play LoD. Just like how StarCraft players were generally just pining for Brood War after SC2 came out.

The PC demographic typically doesn't fall for the Halo/FF7 "baby's first genre king" thing.

Xbox One: I have a functional PC.

PS4: Better games still being released for the PS3.

Wii U: Typical lack of third party.

We've known for like 15 years that shooters don't need single player campaigns. It's like putting a story mode in a fighting game.

Problem was that the FPS got sent back to the stone ages when consoles took over; they had to sacrifice the trajectory of games like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament in order to make a profit off the dual analog generation.

Fortunately that generation seems to have been weened off of single player experiences... Unfortunately that generation still seems content with bad controls and boring weapons.

Titanfall isn't good, but it is progress. The shooter has finally climbed back up to the Heat.net era. Just without the benefits of community mods and maps and ladders and servers...

Actually, never mind. A long way to go still I guess.

Little Mac designed to dominate flat maps.

For Glory and current competitive scene comprised entirely of flat maps.

I think I know how this is going to end...

Story is very important in a game to me, I am looking forward to Watch dogs not only because of the fact you can hack every NPC and find out their backstory but also because the story is going to be unique and awesome.

Or you could just read 1984.

Zero. Characters and gameplay are more important.

You don't find good characters in a bad story . As for gameplay , yes I agree , it matters a lot more .

There have been plenty of good characters in bad narratives in the history of story telling, never mind video games.

See Bioshock Infinite for a recent example.

Is there a way to install RoS without having to deal with 12 gigs of patches for the original?

Just when I thought Carmack was going to go in and make VR relevant...

How does this prevent him from doing that?

I don't consider social media "relevant."
