When I returned my Red Lights of Death 360, I was able to get the store to let me keep the older hard drive, and put the new hard drive with the busted unit.
If you didn't return your busted 360, I agree with an above poster, for now, just swap the drive.

Agree with most of you. I did have a 360 that failed before it was 6 months old. But, having a failed 360, and out of frustration, I am more likely to participate in a poll about failed 360s. If my 360 hadn't failed, I probably wouldn't bother with the poll. So, I think that any poll on 360 failures will have more participation from those who experienced failures, than from those who have not had a failure.

Just my opinion.

I enjoyed the movie. Was great to see a couple of my favorite things in it as well. Mountain Dew, and the 360. Very cool. (would have been cool to see the transformed 360 start taking out some PS3's in a store window....)

Last system I had was a N64. Fun times. Still works, too. Doesn't get much use since the 360 arrived.

I agree! Buy an extended warranty. My first 360 was a victim of the 3 RoD. I had not bought the extended warranty, and it failed after the initial 90 warranty period, last September. Luckily, in December, the manufacturer warranty got extended to one year, and I replaced mine as Sams Club, where I purchased it. This time, I did by their 4 year extended warranty plan for $40. Feel much better now. Really sucked having a busted 360.

I have a very similar scenario. I am in a 2-story house. My Internet connection is on the second floor, but my 360 is on the first floor. After doing my own research, I decided on a ****** wireless router. I found a model that would also work as a wireless bridge/access point. Bought 2 routers, $40 each. Still cheaper than Microsofts adapter. One router upstairs connected to DSL modem, and second router downstairs next to the 360. The beauty of this setup is not only was it cheaper, and allowed me to move the 360 to another room, but I still have 3 ports open on the downstairs router, so that I can hook up an additional 3 xboxs when hosting a 'game night'. Definitely the way to go. ****** setup was fairly easy as well. Have had no problems.

Either.  the 360 is 'auto-sensing'.

I have an earlier version of the same router.  My suggestion is to do what I did.  I have a two-story home.  My Internet connection is upstairs in an office, but my 360 is downstairs in the living room.  My router is upstairs next to the modem.  Instead of buying the $100 Microsoft wireless adapter for the 360, I spent another $40 for the exact same ****** router.  I found a setup online to create a wireless bridge between the two routers.  So, the second router is now downstairs, close to the 360, and I connected the 360 to the second router with the supplied network cable.  Works perfectly.  Also, now if you want to have a xbox party, there are 3 ports left open on the second router to connect to. (not to mention any open ports on the first router, although in a different location).  Much cheaper and more versatile solution than the 360 wireless adapter.
