I dont know if i look at this correctly, but if you plus option 2,3,4,5 together(9497+3636+3421+4621=21175) and note that there are people who failed twice or more than twice, therefore, the failure rate is est. 50% of the people who brought a 360 failed...wow:o

ever think cows may have voted? internet polls aren't accurate, they dodn't indicate over all, they indicate among people that took the poll. and many take the poll more than once. (you just delete the cookie). infact beamespot didn;t even used to use cookies, just xml or html, but what ever it was all you had to do was click back on the borwser and vote again.internet polls are not hard to make say what you want them to say.

lol u give MS to much credit their 2 busy taking people money to care about their consumers. And TM1 u probably get ur 360 next week my whole process took alil more then 4 weeks but those couple dayz were b/c UPS lost my shippment for like 2 days. So yea probably next week man

It's like the forums, you never see any "my xbox 360 has never failed" threads. All you see is "my 360 failed" which gives the impression that a lot fail. In reality the failure rate is well under half.

Agree with most of you. I did have a 360 that failed before it was 6 months old. But, having a failed 360, and out of frustration, I am more likely to participate in a poll about failed 360s. If my 360 hadn't failed, I probably wouldn't bother with the poll. So, I think that any poll on 360 failures will have more participation from those who experienced failures, than from those who have not had a failure.

Just my opinion.

33% answered yes that it failed. That is not 50%. Also, subtract those who had it replaced for free, and that makes 19% who claim to have had problems and have paid for them to be remedied. This poll is bogus, anyway.

That was taken from a poll of people who bought 360s at a particular game store, and only of those that got extented warrenties. You cant go by that stuff. Microsoft has the only true info on failure rates, and i bet they never tell us. And i happen to see a thread on a PS3 forum trying to get everyone to vote on that poll. What do you think their vote was?

I work in psychology, and statistical theory clearly states that as your sample size increases, you are more likely to find a reasonably valid and reliable finding, ratio has nothing to do with it. Further, this poll would clearly have poor reliability and validity as it's not a TRUE random sample. You'd also have to further explore the number of "faking good" or "faking bad" responses--that is fanboys who want the system to appear bad and the 360 fanboys who want their console to look good.

Don't get me wrong though, IMO, the 360 isn't nearly as reliable as the PS3 or Wii. That doesn't mean though that it is as faulty as the ps3 fanboys would like you to believe, nor is it as reliable as MS is reporting.

In other words, youre sample itself can be completely skewed. Maybe if you asked just 360 owners then yes its a good sample but this website has many fanboys running around.

AND they are losing MANY more exclusives such as grand theft auto 4 and devil may cry 4HellRazer360

holy CRAP you are annoying, were not talking about the PS3. this is the 360 forum. Anyways, along with ALL polls/studies, results can NEVER be acually acurate. even if it was 20 000 random XBOX 360 owners, maybea larger %were picked that had broken ones then there could be if there was one for EVERY owner.

Secondly, I have 5 friends who have 360s, 2 of which have had their 360 get the red ring, 1, has had it twice I believe, the others have had no problems at all. Suposedly, the official % is 33% are returned to be fixed/replaced. The other consoles however do certainly have lower percentages (PS3 is 1% I think, Wii lower)

I would not consider a random poll that people can vote for as many times as possible very scientific.

They did take action. they just extended the warranty to 3 years. I feel sorry for all the people who had to pay $160 or whatever they used to charge to fix a console that was out of warranty.
