[QUOTE="Ninja-Bear"]When it comes to criminal law, one of the first things the courts always ask is 'what harm is caused'? If harm is caused to others, generally the behaviour will be criminalized and made illegal. Makes sense. The law ISN'T meant to be strictly moral-based, right? So here's the rub: Prostitution is illegal in many places, most places in fact. In making it illegal, you get the spread of serious diseases, increased teen pregnancy rates and increased instances of child neglect, more drug abuse, violence from pimps, turf disputes between rival pimps, killings/beatings of prostitutes by their clientele. All of which could be avoided/reduced if we would just make it legal but frown upon it. After all, its been illegal for decades and has it done anything at all to stop it? Absolutely nothing. Yet look at all the other problems which have come with it now that it's a criminal offense. Second example; drug abuse. In a city like Detroit or Philadelphia (just an example) which is home to millions of the country's poorest, drugs sell themselves. Whole districts and neighbourhoods are completely consumed with drug addiction. Why not legalise drugs in these areas? You'd have fewer instances of HIV and AIDS and dirty needle sharing if you provided the needles yourself in designated places. You'd also take drugs and drug dealers off the streets, resulting in safer neighbourhoods and less gang violence and murder. Just my two cents at least. It seems to me that making many things illegal based on pointless moral standpoints is out of touch with reality and does more harm than good.

Wow just wow. I am sorry but your rationalization is horrible.

If the cable connections to the mobo are solid I'm afraid that you probably have a short in one of the cables. I know that it's too short to reach the back panel of the mobo but I think this is the only way you're going to get to the bottom of this. Try to reposition your PC case to get access to the rear audio jacks and plug your headphones in there. If you get clean reception directly from the mobo but not from the front connectors I'd say it's definitely a short between the mobo and the front header. If you still don't get good reception even when plugged directly to the rear of the case then it sounds like something fishy with the audio drivers. Hope this helps.jcohenx
Ok thanks, i moved back my speakers, the back works fine but the front still doesnt work. It doesnt matter though, thanks for the help everyone.

Yeah I checked that the USB header and all the wires are wired correctly. I checked the default devices aswell. I have been able to troubleshoot every computer problem i've had in the last 5 years except this. I'm planning to buy a new rig anyway, however I would still like to get this to work for now. It is the most baffling thing ever

Hey everyone, I'm having problems with the front jack of my computer. When i plug in headphones there is no sound, I'm using windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and my mobo is aASUS P5KPL-CM . I had problems with the sound before on vista but i would restart my computer and it would work. On XP i would plug it in and it would work fine. Has this happened to anyone else? I tried plugging in my headphones in the back but the cable doesnt reach. The only reason i have to use headphones is because my speakers are hooked up to my ps3. Can anyone please help me fix this.

PS: I updated my mobo drivers and there is some stupid sound program running in the background called VIA HD. When i tick "Enable front jack detection" a message pops up to say that jack has been unplugged but when i untick it it says that it has been plugged in. Also windows says that headphones are plugged in and working. I tried with several pairs of headphones.

Yeah the game is awesome, but I am still confused about XP...

say, in 2 different missions, at the end i get same amount of XP, I think it was 120, or so.

In first mission i killed at least 50 humanoid mechs, in another i killed 3 huge mechs...

what's up with that? killing enemies no longer gives XP?

Sure I read that we don't see XP when we kill, but at the end of the mission,

but that doesn't seem to be the case or am I insane?

From what i've seen, you don't get XP from killing people, only from completing missions.

I'm around 6 hours in and I deffinatly think the score is justified. There are certain things in the game which will annoy me though, for example: Whenever you finish a quest/ mission a mission complete screen comes up. It really takes away the immersion, also there are less worlds you can visit, instead there is a mining mini-game which is suprisingly well done. I love the new ammo feature and the upgrade to the normandy(it has a serneity/firefly feel to it). The game is simply awesome. PS: I didn't pirate the game, I bought it from a retailer in Australia. If you would like the name then PM me.

Hey yall, what's the best large scale space sim that could run on an asus eee netbook?

Hz-7
I couldn't find the specs for your laptop( My net is capped). However you can try SIns of the Solar Empire, Starwars Empire at War, Starwars Galactic Battlegrounds(not really a space sim), Freelancer.
