I like Ratchet and Clank, but it seems like an awful co-op spin-off game and I doubt it'll have the great singleplayer and humor of R&C. It looks like they're sacrifcing gameplay for co-op but we'll see.

unfortunately, after seeing some gameplay videos, i'm beginning to get the same impression. fortunately, all 3 Ratchet and Clank games on the PS3 have been phenomenal (it is actually one of my favorite series) so i am definitely willing to at least give it a shot.

if we're talking strictly PS3, it's not even close... Burnout Paradise for sure! ModNation Racers, Motorstorm and NFS: Hot Pursuit all follow (not necessarily in that order). i've never played Gran Turismo 5 (or 4 for that matter) but i was a HUGE fan of GT1 and GT3 back in the day. Crash Team Racing as mentioned by others is another fantastic racer that still gets considerate play, thanks to the PSOne Classics section of the PSN.

as for the worst? geez... i'm kind of drawing a blank here. i don't think i've played a truly bad racing game, at least not this generation. i played Blur and enjoyed it a lot, NFS Shift was another that i really like... the only other one everyone else seems to have a problem with is Nascar but i've never played one of those. come to think about it, i would have to say that the Racing Game genre is probably the most consistent, at least in my opinion, as i've yet to play one i didn't enjoy.

it seems Gran Turismo is the most polarizing, with just as many people saying it's their least-favorite as the camp that says it's their most. curiously, most of those in the "least" camp say it's because they prefer arcade racers over sims. i would fall into that camp as well, as i know next to nothing about cars except for "gas to accelerate, brake to slowdown/stop". still, i really did like NFS Shift a lot so i'd be willing to try GT5 when i get a little more money.

aaah what I wouldn't give for a brand new, Naughty Dog-produced Crash Bandicoot game... SONY really dropped the ball by not purchasing the rights to the property. remember when Crash was actually performing better than even Mario? with all of their experience with the PS3 due to Uncharted, Naughty Dog would be in the position to make the BEST platformer around! shame that Crash fell so hard though... ::sigh::

[QUOTE="danduron"] The same could be said of Enslaved and countless other great games that no one bothered playing. MonkeySpot

B-b-b-ut... I played "Enslaved"...

:|:?

... *sniffle*...

LoL!

:D

Hee-Hee!

You make a fine bunch of observations in the rest of your post, too, BTW! Well said. I mentioned "BioShock 2" because of so much of the fan reaction, I hadn't been thinking when I posted, about sales and such. Just what my friends on this site have said about the first being a lot better, and some of those friends not even finishing the second game. It was obviously not a "flop". The first game was such a TKO in sales and critic/ fan appreciation, it merely seemed that way in comparrison.

Good post, Danduron.

:)

why thank you~! yeah, I played Enslaved too and was so bummed out it didn't get the recognition it truly deserved! I actually haven't tried Bioshock 2 yet, it's on my list of games I have to eventually get around to. I really liked the first, like A LOT, so I'm sure everyone was expecting another home run. Bioshock Infinite looks great though! a couple of other ones people have mentioned that really nailed it are Tony Hawk Shred and Haze. aaah I remember LOVING Tony Hawk back on the PS1 and PS2... I say forget the gimmicks and bring back Pro Skater 3. I can't believe the newest one only sold 3,000 copies it's first month. I could sell more out of the back of my car! haha... Haze and Lair were both hyped up pretty big too as supposedly exciting PS3 exclusives but both stunk so bad! It pains me to say, but it looks like RockBand 3 was another flop. critically I think it's got the highest scores of the entire series but NOBODY bought it! it is rather astonishing seeing the rise and fall of the music game. I remember every single one of my friends had Guitar Hero III and RockBand 1 but most didn't even know there was a RockBand 3 'til they played at my house!

Lost Planet 2 comes to mind for a game that was worse than it's predecessor. Also I would argue Gran Turismo 4 was better than GT5, GTA:SA was better than GTA4, and I'd say Bioshock 2 was worse than BS1.

Vari3ty
it seems like no one who's responded to this thread knows what a true flop is, especially this quote here. Lost Planet 2? Who ever hailed the first as all that great to begin with? Gran Turismo 5 has a Metacritic score of 85, Gran Turismo 5 had an 89. Not that big of a difference and GT5 has already sold like 5 million copies. Flop? Hardly. Grand Theft Auto 4 was widely and universally praised, had a Metacritic score of 98, which in itself is extremely impressive, but then you compare it to San Andreas' score of 93 and it's actually better. Plus, it also sold a butt-load of copies so how is it a flop at all? Bioshock is the one game you mentioned that an arguement could be made for as the first is widely regarded as one of the best games of this generation, while second... isn't. Still, a Metacritic score of 88 means it's still a damn good game, just not quite up there in the upper echelon as was the first. You want to know true flops? Look at a game like Alan Wake. All the promotion, all of the accolades and all of the reviewers saying how great it was, then it sold like 20 copies and hasn't been heard of since. The same could be said of Enslaved and countless other great games that no one bothered playing. Or if you want to look at it critically rather than commercially, how about Medal of Honor? it was the game that was supposed to dethrone Call of Duty, it had realism, it had the full power of EA behind it and then... it sucked. it's got a Metacritic rating of 75 which isn't TERRIBLE, but it was supposed to be a AAA-title. still, it did manage to move a bunch of copies so I'm sure EA doesn't care anyway.

$10 I donate to a lot of Charities. Breast Cancer (since my mom lost both of hers from Cancers), Organ Donation (We donated my dad's organs when he passed away), Diabetes (Fiance is Type1),Red Cross, Relay for Life, and anything that comes to my door. Almost every Charity is important and does a lot of good to those in need. You never now when you are going to need something someday, and a lot of these charities work behind the scenes so it is your responsibility, and it does effect you rather you realize it or not. It doesn't have to be a lot, anything is better than nothing...Nuck81

Sorry to hear about your connection to these diseases but it is nice to see someone take charge and do as much as they can to help. I myself donated and I will do so again, the next chance I get :-)

ya know, initially, i thought i made a huge mistake; i'm the kind of person that buys a lot of things on impulse, so add "SONY supporter" to that and i was a "DAY 1 SUCKER" i thought. but, now many months later and after a WHOLE LOT of free stuff, i'm really glad i signed up for the 12 months + 3 free months deal. i love the avatars, the betas have been great (whoo is that Mortal Kombat demo amazing or what?), free games = awesomeness and now with cloud saving added to sweeten the deal? OH YEAH! it DEFINITELY is worth it! i only wish SONY did a better job of promoting it. perhaps even making it mandatory ala XBOX Live might be a good idea, as Microsoft is surely making a TON of dough off of their service and despite initial hesitation and perhaps even outcry, i'm sure a majority of gamers would see the value in PS+.

ooh yeah, i'm excited about it myself! growing up, my dad was a huge fan of Tomb Raider and Resident Evil. in the last few years he's kind of lost interest in videogames so i think getting him this may get him sucked back in :-)

$120 dollars a year for a service that does nothing for me isn't really worth it. I wouldn't mind having a auto-playlist feature that grouped songs intelligently but not worth that price. The_Rick_14
This isn't completely accurate, as there is a "Basic" subscription that is $3.99 month or about $48/year. The good thing about this service is that it actually allows you to select specific songs, whereas the one most similar to it (Pandora) does not. Of course, Pandora has a better way of figuring out your tastes in music so it's much easier to discover new music. Still, Qriocity is good for when you don't want to have a computer pick something for you and would rather select the songs yourself. I work in an office environment, so I've used both extensively and basically Pandora is my "radio" that I leave on while I mindlessly do other menial tasks and when I'm in the mood to listen to a specific cd or playlist, I switch over to Qriocity. Honestly, at the low price of $3.99/month, there is really no reason you shouldn't at least give the trial a try. I can't comment too much on the console version, but the online one is quite good.

BEST: Shatter for sure! best videogame soundtrack ever and the gameplay itself is nothing short of awesome. totally worth it.

WORST: hm... probably PAIN! or Noby Noby Boy. i bought both just because at the time they were some of the only games to feature trophy support. I haven't played either since that first time.
