Oblivion. If by deep you mean loads of repetetive content.hongkingkong

QFFT - people who think Oblivion has a deep storylinehave clearlynever played any games with REAL storylines.

*resurrects thread*

the deepest storylines are as follows:

5. Deus Ex

4. The Witcher

3. Max Payne 2

2. Knights of the Old Republic II

1. Planescape: Torment

Baldur's Gate 2 was left out, because although it had among the deepest most perfectly developed characters you could ask for, the storyline itself was more of a mousehunt than a puzzle

Mario is awesome, so why don't you grow up and accept other people's opinion?enterawesome

please, forgive my arrogance, but..

do you know the difference between an educated opinion and an ignorant opinion? or actually, let me put it this way: do you think it's justified for people to talk about onlythe narrow spectrum of mainstream games like they are the best in the world? because people who only repeat well known names are only making the job easier for the advertisers.. and that leads to monopoly

secondly, do you understand what it means to try to broaden minds by making people realise their own limited opinions?

and please tell me, how exactly is Mario awesome? i mean, how is he any more awesome than the thousands of forgotten arcade game heroes? how has he deserved this overload of popularity that he has today? well planned nostalgic marketing is a psychological ploy

lastly, do you think a hypocritical opinion is somehow relevant or worth just accepting? people have a trend of looking out only for the new best graphics games, whileclinging to old nostalga classics. YET somehow they commonly refuse to play in-between games because of outdated graphics and completely irrelevantbullsh!t like that..

one of the world's problems is the paradigm of all opinions being equal, and to be accepted without any reason or doubt. have you never heard the famous line by Winston Churchill: "The most convincing argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter." ?

First, this is legacy platforms - it includes everything from Pong clear up to something like the original Xbox. If you read my top 5, I included arcade, PlayStation, NES and SNES in my list.

Second, because it is legacy patforms, why wouldn't people mention nintendo c.lassics - a lot of people started console gaming with the NES, and had so much fun, there was no reason to abandon them for the sake of newer "more sophisticated" graphical upgrades. People shouldn't be mentioning "the newest high graphics games" because this is legacy platforms, not general game discussions or system wars. A fun game is a fun game no matter how "immature" you may think it is.

Lastly, where is "your top 5 games of all time" list? - the whole reason this topic has been started and posted in.

Stinger78

1. my top 5 list is on the FIRST page

2. i admit my fault, because i didn't notice it was the 'legacy platforms' section

3. graphical updates don't make games more sophisticated when the concept and altogether mental level of most of those games is very primitive. i'm very much against these "high graphic churnouts"

4. my problem is not with the games! gods.. read what i said!! the problem is that most people keep naming the same names over and over again. either retro franchises that keep being reproduced.. but oh.. what about all the other ones? so many wonderful, brilliant games become lost, forgotten, unfinished, out of production etc. because of self-perpetuating advertisement and massive conformism concerningopinions. these games are just so cheap to make, so more of the budget can be spent on advertising them instead. furthermore, since games like these get made at an alarming rate, then the focus shifts completely

my point is: people don't look for the really great games, they look for the ones that are made to look good, that become popular among the so-called authorities, because the game developers buy themselves more attention. if you are going to be subjective about naming your own top 5 games, then for gods' sake leave out the 'influential' factor

(i keep editing so much because every time i fix something, this idioticforum keeps removing some spaces between words, and i have more to fix)

why don't the people who keep mentioning super mario games just grow up already?

it's either hypocritical or ignorant how people only mention either nintendo classics or the newest high graphics games and ignoring absolutely everything in between

i'm not sure if the Pariah Dog from Fallout 2 counts, but it annoyed me profoundly, because it's nearly impossible to get rid of, and it only brings bad luck

I don't see how people can consider graphics vital to the game. Most of you praise retro games as much as any average person, games without graphics, yet still, everywhere it's the very first thing that people mention..

Has nobody noticed the magic of the poor-visual games? They make way for your imagination to work while you play, and that's an everlasting virtue. Graphics are nothing more but instant gratification

Also, graphics do NOT compensate for the lack of an immersive atmosphere or brilliant storyline or even balanced gameplay

The best game is the game that changes you the most. Whether it inspires you or changes your way of thinking.. a game that issomething much more than just 'entertainment'

Nowadays games are entertainment only. The assembly line is so filled with new games, that the only competition is how fast something gets done it seems
