I'm not sure if many of you play the custom game "Defence of the Ancients" for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, but recently I've gotten really into it. In fact, when I play the actual game of TFT, I forget the real moves and abilities that each hero normally has; it's as though I've rewired my Warcraft Brain into a DoTA Brain.

And that's what brings me to my question: could a self-sustaining DoTA game for the PC work, or will it always been known as a custom map on TFT? To be honest, I kind of like it as a custom map, and could see it branching off being a poor mistake -- one that might ruin it for its fans.

It definitely has the potential to be a better game, but I doubt I'll spend as much time on it as I did with Oblivion and definitely a lot less time than I did on Morrowind. Not to say Fallout 3 won't be good, but the combat system is a little less attractive to me than the Elder Scrolls games; seems like it would just slow everything down.

Bah...You can just buy the best items? Well thats no fun, I was going to give it a try myself later on tonight. I might still, just to see what it's like but now I'm not so sure if it will be worth my time.

Can anyone enlighten the OP and myself if we are wrong in thinking this is a bad system?
