@Boat3600 @thegedden @Toshi_TNE Everyone does realize that PS3 and 360 had complete sellouts in 2 weeks (all levels of system), so there was no ability to sell more. Poor planning or not by the others, there were a ton of Wii Us on the shelf and it was still outsold.

@thegedden @cmyork Even if it was a Dinner system, that is not the point. You can't possibly believe that if Sony or Microsoft came out with a new $350 system they wouldn't have sold over a million units each. I am willing to buy the argument that we need to wait until the $350 system is readily available to tell, but I have to believe that if people were desperate for the system they would have sucked it up and bought the cheaper system and paid for the upgrades. Not to mention that from what I saw the most popular XBox and PS3 systems were still over $200. Not a giant difference for most people.

From reading the numbers for the other systems, doesn't 465,000 units make it about the lowest selling system on the market for December (PS3, XBox, 3DS and original Wii all sold more if what I have read is correct).

@DeusGladiorum This is completely consistent with their past actions. So, I am personally not surprised.

@Xenrathe @svaubel I can see that. I skipped the Game Cube and probably own more Game Cube games than Wii games for my Wii (although it is definitely a doorstop at this point except for plugging in for party play for kids a few times a year).

@abHS4L88 I will agree that price could definitely be an issue for next gen system. Of course, since there are generally few great games for any new system on release, I will likely wait until there are a few out to buy any new system. My guess is current gen games will be plentiful for at least a year after new systems arrive. Don't feel the need to be early adapter of any system. First price cut is my usual time to buy.

@svaubel Have you seen the difference between Wii graphics and 360/PS3? Expect at least as big a difference, if not more, this time. Nintendo is going with gimmick over power. Also, since most people bought about 4 titles for their Wii, backwards compatible is not a big issue.

BTW. I think Pachter is more full of himself than accurate even though I agree with some of what he says.
