@Tanares: I loved the MIDI type music, and they are modules in actual fact :p
I much prefer developers to make their own music though, not use third party pop/rock crap like EA

I honestly think though developers took more time to make games because they knew they couldn't be patched.

7 odd GB is ridiculous. Are they going to also be sending out the games to store shelves with the updated content or force people who buy the game in the next few months to have to update?

I'm someone with a fast internet connection and even I don't want to be doing that

Personally, I only play games for their single player campaigns. I very rarely play multiplayer at all online.
I really enjoyed Halo 4's single player, but this focusing mostly on the multiplayer and co-op, sort of told me that the single player isn't really up to much at all compared with the Xbox 360's Halo 4

No reason why I guess this couldn't be done. The newer PS4 would have developers programming to get the most out of it, and then like the PC (as its the same architecture), the older PS4 naturally scales down the content with lesser textures, etc etc

@PeterDuck If I was a female, I'd personally love the attention, and many girls do love the attention.
Females of our species can abuse too. It isn't just characterised by the male

@grove12345 Not in the VR world it isn't. Even 60fps isn't great when in that type of world. The human brain is simply used to a lot higher

@xantufrog Just a problem with the display tech being used, and the resolution being thrown at it. We have no idea yet if the PS4 for example will even be capable of 2 1080p displays... probably not, and especially not at 60fps.
Were talking possibly 2 720p streams, and that is if they are lucky.

The oculus simply has the problem because they haven't got the displays ready to do any higher than 1080p yet, but I assume before release, they will be capable of at least 4K, but then you have a problem with them being LCD's, and at any lower than 4K so close to the eyes, and stretching would occur

@aminodextrous You writing a comment at me? I did say they'd be a difference.

Yes it can. The tech they are talking about in the article is VR, which requires a higher framerate AND resolution than consoles can even fathom to do. 60fps is probably manageable, but to have the best experience, you'd need a lot higher than even dual 1080p.
3D in movies, like in IMAX is using the same technology the likes of VR does. Displaying two images for each eye.

For it to appear smooth, it needs to be higher than the default 24fps (in the UK), but to reach 60fps, and to power two displays, resolution will have to be sacrificed, and that is also a bad thing in VR.

@Barighm 60hz is needed, if not more for the VR experience.

Have you ever been to see a 3D IMAX film? It jitters because it is running at a very low frame rate, that would otherwise be fine for a 2D showing with a smaller screen.

The hobbit with its higher frame rate fixed this issue.

Hardware needs to be powerful enough though, and it just isn't.

Thing is, VR needs a higher resolution than 1080P to not see pixels as it is far too near to the eyes! 4K is where it should begin, and that is only possible on PC's, since it'd have to power 2 4K pixel displays for each eye.

To make 60fps a possibility, you have to combat this by lowering resolution on hardware that simply isn't ready for it.

Lower the res? Lower the quality of the experience at your eyes anyway.

Console hardware isn't as good as it should have been this gen. It is as simple as that.

If anything, the Xbox One textures are sharper than the PS4's. The PC of course wins, especially in shadows
