The chopper comes to an abrupt halt, waking Holt's men from a uncomfortable, yet seemingly mandatory slumber. "What the hell is this?" Holt snaps at Elara. "This is where we meet our contact." The chopper's bay hatch opens, and the direct glare of a setting sun forces the squad to shield their eyes as they disembark.
Elara, the first to exit, stands at the middle of the clearing, looking off into the jungle with a competent look. A rustling off to the right makes it clear that there is an approaching party of sorts, alerting Holt's squad. A small Oriole and several other birds step out of the brush, and walk over to Elara, whose expression immediately shifts to one of relief as she exchanges a hug with the Oriole. "So, is this a family reunion now?" Elara shifts to Holt with a surprisingly enthusiastic attitude.
"This is Pavel. He belongs to the South SAAU C.O.I." "And what is that?" "Central Offices of Intelligence." "We operate all over the world, collecting various information from countries that we may finda potential threat to our own." Pavel abruptly steps into the conversation, approaching Holt. "And I'm going to guess you were stationed in Russia." "Correct. We have actually been working alongside the U.S. for some time now, and have several operatives in the U.S.S.R. at the moment." "I thought you were isolating yourselves from the rest of the world's affairs. "Our country is, yes, but we can step beyond that jurisdiction, provided we remain covert in our actions." Holt looks around at Pavel's group, taking quick note that it is completely consisted of aviary birds.
"So why are you all...... you know...... the same species?" "We have all been personally appointed by the head council member of our nation, who is a bird." "Sounds like some sort of traditional system to me. I thought your leader denounced any tribal affiliations with your country." Pavel steps back and laughs. "There's a lot you don't know about our leader, Colonel William Holt." Pavel turns back to Elara. "Eggman's forces have mobilized, and Janis is riding shotgun on the offensive. My men have set a blockade which should be ready to intercept them at any time now, but we must hurry." Elara and Pavel's squad quickly run off into the jungle without a cue for Holt, Matthews, and Keller to follow, leaving them at a complete loss. "Aw, dammit! Come on, men!" The squad takes off after the aviary creatures.
