I laugh every time I read "Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha". Gotta give Capcom credit for taking themselves and their extremely long winded titles lightly.
I must be in a minority who've become jaded with FPS. This game just didn't connect with me even though it has lots of good production values. Gears of War brought more memorable moments for me, and that was years ago. I'd give it a 7 or 8. I must be out of touch, I can't see how it got a 9 in the years 2013, but hey, to each their own.
You have to give Capcom credit for Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. That game is a killer riot despite minor blemishes. I sunk about 140 hours into that title. Absolutely addictive. If they don't follow up on the franchise I'd be baffled. If they manage it right, they can really give Bethesda a run for the money, and even take some starch out of Dark Souls franchises' sails. Fighting two wyrm/dragon's simultaneously deep in the Bitterblack arena was about as much chaos as I've seen in my gaming career, even making Dark Souls look a bit tame.Namco/Bandai may have rediscovered the "merciless punishing difficulty game" camp, but really Capcom never left. Capcom stayed brutal even when it was out of style.
If only Capcom would ease up on the Resident Evil IP and focus more on some of these other franchises, I think we'd see another renaissance for them.
You know, the guy is probably right. I haven't bought a Square Enix game in quite a while, but I did eventually play Hitman Absolution, Deus Ex: HR, Just Cause 2, and FFXIII, either on Playstation Plus, or used. I waffled on Tomb Raider, but want to eventually play the game. The games are all quite good, and I like Square Enix. They have been staking some territory in certain genres (e.g. stealth action). Meanwhile, I ended up buying quite a few EA games despite not particularly being fond of EA. So the question for him is, why did I (we) end up not making the purchase. It may come down to (in a few cases) the ability to interract online with friends through the games. I enjoyed the friendly competitor part of Hitman, but the community isn't a big enough draw yet to influence me to make the purchase on that yet. I hope Square manages to figure that one out and makes a turnaround. I'd be glad to see it.
Exciting to be sure. I can see a future for this game and it's storyline. Faith remains a favorite character in recent memory. I imagine they could take this franchise in quite a few interesting directions. One direction I would love to see them entertain is an even more dystopian world like out of Blade Runner. I'd also love to see some method of inspiring replaying the story mode over and over, like some rewards system which unlocks over multiple replays (different outfits, different skills, variable tattoos). New effects could also be introduced. The high you get from this game is when you are operating at super high speeds and connecting all your actions -- like when you reach a red door and slam it with your hand. I'd love to see more of that, and introduction of more blurring effects when at high speeds, perhaps accompanied by some sort of sound that emphasizes your speed and the accompanying high.
And it wouldn't hurt if the soundtrack was mixed by Burial and featured some of his higher speed dubstep. That mixed with this game would be an awesome rush.
