@benjaslehi @warhawk-geeby You spent time on the wii? Doing what? I mean I played Resident evil 4, and Monster Hunter 3... thats it. all the rest were crap games that i just played for a few times then ignored....
no! seriously! Was there anything decent on the wii besides mario kart and other few party games? Because i felt bad on just leaving it off all the time
@shingui5 @carlitoqc It matters quite a bit... if a console isnt doing well (WII U) then there wont be publishers (and probably developers) interested in it and thus no games.
@strothers101 True top of the line matters but not half as much as well coded Dark Souls runs fine on my PS3 (not counting from the horrid frame drop in the swamps area) But the PC version is a disgrace on my top of the line pc all because the dev didnt (and was honorable enough to admit it publically) know how to code for the pc. that game runs better if you get a bunch of patches from the community than if you run the original code.
@Ravenlore_basic @Devils-DIVISION You dont know how PS4 will handle the OS/Gaming part. remember that the Cell in the PS3 reserved a core just for the OS.
PS4 has to reserve some power for their social events (saving the last 30s so that you can hit the share button at any time, listening to friends connecting to you, etc)
In the end its probably nearly the same as the XBox

Depends: is it to go to the supermarket 2miles down the road or to cross the nairobi desert? Can you afford the petrol? do you have a place to charge your battery? How big are you? can you fit in the prius? Are the roads big enough for your hummer?

XBox is better because its not Sony but PS4 is better because its Sony not Microsoft which everyone knows its crap but their XBox is much better than any crap that Sony can do which is best because it has the best games which isnt true because the best games are on Xbox which has kinect which is best but not as good as ps4Eye which could be as good as kinect...

@strothers101 Actually games will always run better on a console than on a directly equivalent pc. This is because the hardware is a know factor and thus no abstraction is needed. You can code directly for this particular machine knowing exactly how it will behave.
There is no will it run on XP, Vista, W7, W8? There is no if the graphics card is X then we need to deactivate that, if its X2 we need to activate that. No worries about whether it has enough memory. You dont even need to worry about whether you can get enough bandwidth from the cd drive (bluray in this case) to stream the videos or quickly download assets in the background while the game is running. Everything is a known factor so the game is properly optimised for it.
That said a well coded game on a top of the line gaming rig will run circles around any console game. just bear in mind "well coded"
@Warlord_Irochi You abstract the Graphics engine to use either DirectX or OpenGl.
It was very common on older pc games to have an option of running the game on DirectX (Direct3D) or OpenGl as older graphics cards would be better at one or the other depending on the brand (if im not wrong opengl was usually better on old graphic cards and Direct3D better if you didnt have a discret graphics card as your cpu would take over... mind you this was when graphic cards were rare things).
If you take a look at some open source graphic engines (Ogre3D) they can be compiled/run on either DirectX or OpenGl.
And finally some devs will swear by OpenGL and others by DirectX. I suppose its up to taste and personal experience.
