How about Sony remove all backwards compatibility from the PS3? Then all they need to do is sticky tape a PS2 onto the PS3 and you have your backwards compatibility. Probably cheaper also. :P

LexLas here is another way of thinking about it. Say you have a 5-10 minute bus/train ride or you've got just a few minutes and want to play a short game to pass the time. You don't want to have to wait 2-4 minutes before a games loads up before you can play it. It might leave you with 1 minute to play it before you have to put it back down which makes the whole experience rather pointless as you won't achieve much in just a minute or you might not bother plaing it at all because of the loading times.

I think Nintendo should release it in Australia and Europe on the same day as the PS3 was suppose to be released. That way people who were saving to buy a PS3 can walk into stores and be disappointed that the PS3 got delayed(They wouldn't have known about the delay from all their saving they have been doing. No mags,internet...) A clerk can then say "Well, you could buy a Wii that came out today? You can have a console, all the launch games and a couple of spare inovative controllers for friends to come around and play with the money you saved for the PS3. Do you want to know something else? You will still have change for that PS3 which you can pre-order."

The Blu-ray player is the system seller and killer. If your buying the PS3 as a cheap Blu-ray player then yes it's a steal but if you don't have the technology to show off the Blu-ray player in full effect then your buying a handicapped console in my opinion.
