I'm wondering because i checked my fan with SpeedFan and it was 2400 RPM and the temperature of the processor was 80C under heavy load, and when i saw it on my friend's pc, it was 3500 RPM and the temperature was only 65C under heavy load. The only difference is that my processor is 2M cache and my friend's is 512KB cache.

So is that normal ? i have broken one of the push-pins while installing the fan, so would that cause the heatsink not to be installed correctelly and cause this over heating ?

Any comment will be appreciated :)

100C is way to high, how long are you using the computer? Also what computer case are you using? Do you have good airflow?i-like-pie
Well its not 100C right now, its 80C but I think it still very high. About the case http://img16.imageshack.us/i/mycase.jpg/ < this is the same as mine. And I have quite good airflow. but not very good.

Hello everyone. This is my first post in this website and I don't speak English very well, so please try to be as simple as possible.

I have Intel pentium 4 3.00GHz with 2M Cache processor, and yesterday I downloaded a program called SpeedFan, and I was shocked by the readings, the processor temperature was 100C, and when I checked the fan, I found it spinning weakly, and the reading said it was 700 RPM, so I have just replaced it with a new one and I put that white thing (whatever u call it ), but the readings are still making me angry. At first the fan is running 2300 RPM but I don't know if this is enough, now the temperture is 50C-53C when it is idle, and 75C-80C while heavy loading or playing a game like Empire total war.

I forgot to tell you that one of the push-pins was broken while I was installing it, but it still very hard and unmovable and I'm not sure how to make sure if the heatsink touches the processor.

So what do u think guyz ? Just feel free to tell me your opinions.... Thanks everybody :-)
