I'm wondering because i checked my fan with SpeedFan and it was 2400 RPM and the temperature of the processor was 80C under heavy load, and when i saw it on my friend's pc, it was 3500 RPM and the temperature was only 65C under heavy load. The only difference is that my processor is 2M cache and my friend's is 512KB cache.

So is that normal ? i have broken one of the push-pins while installing the fan, so would that cause the heatsink not to be installed correctelly and cause this over heating ?

Any comment will be appreciated :)

The RPM is for the most part irrelevent, it depends on the radius of the fan. 120mm fans are typically spinning at below 2000rpm, 1200-2000 92mm fans(Intel heatsinks use this I believe) spin at about 2000-3000, though Intel ones can spinup to almost 4000 I believe. 80C underheavy loud isn't good, at that point the Intel heatsink(assuming this is Intel, I don't own any amds processors) puts the fan at 100% past 70C. Remount your heatsink.

That's the entire point. Once you're deaf, your system will be completely silent 8)

Depending on the brand, 4000 to 6000 rpm. If you remove the sticker off the back of fan, there is a little plastic clamp

that u can remove with a micro screwdriver and clean it.

I figure you did what MaoChimp said, you turned everything up until your eardrums popped, because you have a 3870x2 with c2q @ 3.8+. Im already complaining with my stock setup T.T I hope my next rig is as quiet as a ps3.

Sad, I cant push pass 3.4 stable, because of timing motherboard bs -.-

@OP get heatsink replacement for aesthetics/temperature improvements.
