You need to build a officer and a drummer. You can only group one type of unit together ie: pikemen or musketeers. If you want to group units from the 17th century barracks you need a 17th century officer and drummer or the other way around for 18th century units. The command to actually make a formation is under the officers commands. Formations are made with 32, 64 or 128 men if I remember correctly. Hope this helps.

If you like going click crazy, Silverfall is more of a click fest then Titan Quest. But Titan Quest is still a fast pased game. Personally I didn't like Titan Quest as much as Dungeon Siege 2.
