You neeed a bios upgrade, me thinks. Another thing to think about is that when the OS install is starting up, you'll see a prompt for installing 3rd party drivers, which you can use to install the sATA drivers. Though, it's been awhile since I've had to do that so I can't be 100% on it.

Though, I find it funny that your bios doesn't recognize your sATA ports? Are they built in? Or did you install an adapter card?

exactly

Yup. That combined with the servers you are contacting. I'd stick with the speed your paying for though, I pay for higher bandwidth and it really does help, especially if you are doing multiple things online at the same time. Though, I use mine for work as well, so maybe you should take a look at what your other options are. Nothing saying you can't try a slower speed and see how it works for you and then, if you don't like it, then you can re-upgrade again.

usb drive will work or a cd-rom will work as well. It really depends on your current bios and what drives it can detect for this.

Yah, just run it. It'll pop up a warning saying you're "up to date" or have a "newer version installed" and will most likely either cancel out or ask if you want to overwrite with whatever version it wants to install.

You know, it might be time for an OS re-install? When was the last time you did that? Couldn't hurt to try before spending more money.

Hard drive? Reinstall BF, but defrag your drive first. What type of drive do you have, IDE or sATA? Running out of space? Older drive? Motherboard might be holding you back a little too? Did you reinstall your graphics drivers? Best to uninstall the drivers and then reinstall from scratch.

It's just plain silly. All that will happen is that you will slow your metabolism down which will make the pounds come back faster and harder when you start eating again. Just start eating smart, simple as that. Right down what you eat, every little thing, for a week and you will start to see things that you can cut out. Make sure you get the proper caloric intake, exercise (even just walking more). Starvation diets do not work and they'll make you feel like crap.

Well I will be honest with you. if the drive is idle or if you're simply downloading some things off the net, the raptor isn't going to make much noise. But once it starts "thinking" my entire case starts to vibrate a bit  spierdalaj666

Yah, I think the Raptor definitely needs some dampening material involved.

Just speaking from experience, the Antec Sonata is quiet - but it absolutely sucks when it comes to heat management. Makari

Yah, I've heard that as well.  I am thinking about using a generic case and using the savings to buy liners and insulation.  That's sort of the trade off for quiet pc's.  Less air flow and slower fans.

I would go for the Conroe. Aside from the little extra performance, Core 2 Duo chips are very efficient and consumes much less power than the Athlon X2 lines.Cyborg-21
Ah, well that's a good piece of info. I haven't even got to the point of looking into power consumption differences, though I do remember hearing something along that line a while back. Now, I just need to figure out the performance differences between an E6300, E6400, and an E6600 (I'll ignore the E6700's). I suppose the real question is whether the E6400 is that much better than the E6300. Google here I come.

The 64-bit version of VirtualPC will only work on 64-bit versions of Windows. You need the 32-bit version even with a 64-bit CPU.

Gog
Yah, it will not even let you install a 64-bit over a 32-bit.
