Lets start a bit earlier, BWC was a Sony feature during previous PlayStation era but due to the company's capacity to make, promote and sell decent new current gen games BWC dropped to the side by the time we made it to PS4 there was hardly any demand thus no need to include it. Will see for PS5 for me it will be waste of time, money and resources specially if they continue this strong streak of first party games. If you think for a minute that BWC is not a MS hyped feature due to lack of decent first party content then you haven't been paying attention.
Crossplay, last gen Sony was asking for Crossplay with MS and got turned down, now they only allow it on Beta basis and only couple of games no more Otherwise if you don't know why MS is running after Sony to have it back on more games then....... :)
But seriously, you have to ask yourself this question, if MS is paving the path to a new glorious age of gaming, showing the rest the best of technologies with new innovations, features and ideas, pushing Sony & Nintendo out of their boundaries & comfort zone, dropping more programs than games, more social features than games, WHY are they trailing in worldwide sales and popularity compared to PS & NS ? why do they end up last on sales reports in NA a region where they should be strong ? why there are more and more appliance stores across Europe & Asia diminishing Xbox shelves for better commercial use since its not selling ? why isn't selling in Asia ? Africa ? Down under ? If you wish to speak in future tense (but MS will be big competition for PS5) well, signs are not there, to the contrary, the trend is continuing by the looks of it, Sony keeps pushing out blockbusters & GOTY candidates, PSN reports just emerged for 2018 where revenue reported to be higher than Xbox division altogether and console sales (PS4) more than double of XB1 meanwhile on the MS camp, IGN just released a review of Crackdown 3 (check it out its on youtube) and we're still getting bombarded with ideas, innovations and features nobody's asking for.

MS desperate attempts to play catch and avoid dropping to last place of ww console sales.. Sony has taken off and are way out of reach and this trend will roll into next gen, couple of days ago they announced PSN Plus has more gamers than XB1 and Switch gamers combined. From a business stand you see why Sony is destroying MS in console market and N Switch is rapidly moving to fill this second slot and there is only one thing MS has to do to start gaining grounds, they're not doing it.
I would love a revamped - maybe a soft re-boot of the series, we've had from Halo to Halo 5 and now its time for Halo Infinite series but with rich narrative, very good story and amazing characters. Given MS track record of financing something like this is not the most adequate so maybe too much to ask but you never know. Halo 5's campaign was a joke.
I did read your statement but its wrong.. There are games will drop on PC as well (these are not exclusives mostly made by 2nd party devs) but NOT the big ones, Sony always have games accessible only on their platform/s... How is HZD, Uncharted, M Spider-Man, God of War, Bloodborne, Persona 5 and upcoming Days Gone, Death Stranding & Last of us 2 on PC ? These are real exclusives accessible only on PS.. where is your list ?
