Check this and search for Ether6123 post. See if it applies to you.

If not, google "event id 18 whea-logger" (without quotes) for other hints. One link points out that upping the RAM volatage to 1.9 solved it (but you already did that, I guess, as you stated that you increased RAM voltage)

You have done a good job on your diagnostics.

I have two things to suggest:

  • If you over clock, don't.
  • Update BIOS

Also, what is the STOP code you get? You can probably find it in the event viewer.

I had a similar experience. I installed "Voddler" - a movie rental service offered in parts of Europe. The service turns out to use a P2P protocol that sucked the life out of my 20/2 Mb connection. It resulte in slow browsing, packet loss and other grief.

Have you installed any software that may use your bandwidth and display similar symptoms?

I use Win7 with MS security essentials without any problems.

If you are connecting to the 'net wirelessly, try using a cable instead. Might wireless driver incompatibility with your router.

Also check your CPU load - is any process hogging the CPU?

No XP support? Looks like I'll have to wait.jimmyjammer69

I guess you mean you'll have to wait untill you upgrade to Windows 7? IE9 will not support XP - even when the final version is released.

Check your BIOS to see how your HDD is set up. If it is ACHI thay will be the problem, as XP does not support ACHI without additional drivers.

Change the disk mode in the BIOS to LBA, and install XP. You should do a full format during the install.

In the days of DOS, I would be typing the undelete command in my dreams.

Snotweasel530
In the DOS days I ONCE did: C:\>dir temp (listing of garbage in c:\temp shown) C:\>deltree . /s /y (I think that was the comand - might have been RD or similar) (deleted c:\temp and all subdirs without prompting for confirmation.... And everything else, as my current location was root and not c:\temp) Many hours spent with norton utilities to recover most. But the lesson was "chaep" The HDD at hat time was only 30 MB.

Depending on your games and the resolution you play, a better GPU might be the better choice. Are you playing your (newer) games at best settings? The 9600 is quite dated... CPU is sort of OK - especially if you can OC it a little.

I doubt that a 100 core CPU will ever exist. Perhaps a 96 core or 128 core. The number 100 is not nicely reaced in numbers that divide nicely by factors of two.

[QUOTE="seabiscuit8686"][QUOTE="belboz"]ISP: Telenor Advertised speed: 20 / 2 Mbps - 17.5 / 1.75 Mbps actual. Limit: No data limit Price (including VOiP): $40 (including income tax savings*). Retail price $60/month Location: Denmark (*) I pay for this as a job benefit. I pay the retail price before my income tax is withheld. This lowers the effective price to a somewhere between $30-40.

Do you work from home? Or is this just a job related perk in Denmark?

It a a job related perk mostly found in the private sector. We can choose select to buy Internet access, mobile phones and subscriptions, computer, newspapers and a few other goods this way.
