I'm an atheist and a skeptic, and I don't have a problem with the way religion is generally portrayed in video games. I can suspend my disbelief when I'm looking for Andrate's Ashes because that's a ficitional world in a fictional universe where I have to subjugate my love for real science to "a wizard did it" or no one would be able to shoot fireballs out of their hands. I wouldn't be willing to extend a game with a Christian message the same courtesy. I have already decided what my belief is regarding modern religion. A game that extolled the virtues of a Muslim going on pilgrimage or a Christian developing stigmata (just as examples) would most likely leave me frustrated that I could not express my natural skepticism of the core beliefs of those stories.

This is really ironic considering Gamespot's coverage of Gamestop's removal of On-Live coupons from the recently released Deus Ex. I think it's a great idea for demos, but I just can't bring myself to download games from anyone, even Steam. I need the physical copy if I paid for it.

We should care about working conditions period, not just working conditions in the game industry. I care about who makes my games, and grows my coffee, and bags my groceries, and mows my lawn. It's up to me to ensure that I support companies with ethical labor practices.
