Wuuut my brother got a 42" Sharp (1080p) for 1200$ at Sears.

Anyway on topic: of the unknown brands, Vizio and Westinghouse is suppose to have a good reputation. I've seen 42" Vizio's (1080p) for 1000-1200$. 37" Vizio costs around 750 at walmart afaik. 32" costs around 600 at various stores. The last two are 720p, though at that size it wouldn't have mattered if you had 1080p...

Just to not misinform you. The PS3 can be loud but like a previous post stated not as loud as the 360 (though this is only what i've heard, I dont personally own a 360). But yeah when the PS3 works hard and needs to cool off the fan will kick in and once it's at fan level 3 it can get pretty bad.

NOTE: There are two types of PS3's, one with 15 blade and one with 19 blade. The 19 blade is reported to be VERY quiet, comparable to the PS2 Slim. The 15 blade is the one who makes the noise after a while. It usually needs about 30 min of playing games before it gets really bad though. If you can somehow cool it off I'm pretty sure the fan won't kick off at all though I've heard very bad news about the intercooler.
