Sometimes I wish gamespot wasn't so, well,...... American! Why liken the processors to basketball players noone outside of the US has heard of? Lebron James and Kwame Brown??? Who?? I had to google'em. Why not use Metaphors like Spiderman or James Bond, or even Mario/Sonic that are internationally known heroes/figures around the globe. Its a game (and sometimes movie-tie in)website afterall. Not an American Sports site. Anyway back on track..... AMD needs to shape up a bit, or in the not too distant future Intel will have the same monopoly- hold over processors that Microsoft has over (bug ridden) operating systems! Good that they finally got a Quad-Core out though.

This is the single most ridiculous thing I've ever seen Gamespot put for an item of news/headlines. COME ON! Half Life was and continues to be THE greatest PC game of all time and you've only just put it in that Hall of Fame list NOW??? It should've been there back in 1998 or 1999! It's like one of those most obvious things in the world, that doesn't even require mentioning. It's like suddenly acknowledging that J.S. Bach was (and still is) the immortal GOD of music above all before and after him!! (yes including Mozart and Yngwie Malmsteen!) But back to Half Life.....I agree with Eldanon, multiplayer Half-Life has yet to be beaten by any game, HL2 can't even compete (the weapons are too slow+not half as fun). I look forward to games like Crysis , Unreal 3 (2k7) , but I'll bet my life the multiplayer won't touch the fun of original Half-Life/Opposing Force Multiplayer. As for other games inducted into this list ........I'm not even goin to look because it will only serve to anger me and rub salt into the wound! But if I found a game such as Halo (*spit*) on that list (at least before Half Life was added, I'd be sorely insulted!) Come on GAMESPOT WAKEY WAKEY DO YOUR JOB!!! As long as Half-Life, GTA San Andreas (PC version), Manic Miner, JetSetWilly and Chuckie Egg is on that list, I'm happy!! jejejeje :D

The trouble with PCs, is the overwhelming amount of diff. hardware configurations. EVERYBODY who tries Vista will have a different experience. I have a reasonably powerful game setup (now starting to show its age a bit....AMD 64 +4000, Nvidia 7800, 1GB) and I find it an excellent O.S. in everyway. I've had not a single error message, blue screen, or game compatabitlity issues. Everything works perfectly for me. And things can only get better with future drivers and updates. I rushed out to buy Vista the very first day it was available at my Local PCWorld.....................the only thing that baffled me was....................where was everybody else and all the long queue for Vista??? I couldn't believe the checkout chick told me she had sold less than 10 copies that day! Well, personally it's well worth the 200-odd quid I paid.(I wish I ordered it from the States for half price but I didnt wanna risk the software detecting that or the wait of overseas shipping etc) I don't see the point waiting for Vista, its not gonna come down much in price even by easter, summer or Xmas. If you have able Hardware I highly recommend it. I have best of both worlds. I still have XP installed on my older hard disk. I bought a Western Digital Raptor 150GB especially for Vista. Runs very fast. Also a WD. 500GB for music and games. Also upgraded to 3GB of Ballistix TRACER RAM highly recommended and very pretty to boot! Most people who complain about any New OS are either unlucky or just haven't explored it enough. I've had Vista a week and used it alot. Everyday I find something new I like over previous OS's. The search/save/navigation/file filter features alone save so much frustration compared with XP, especially if you're somebody who deals with alot of files like me. When Crysis, Alan Wake, Unreal III, and the much anticipated sequel to San Andreas (PC) comes out I'll make sure I have a top of the line DX10 card ready and waiting. PC's and their users are subjective in nature. Macs don't have that issue. (not that i've ever had one, or intend to) The fact is VISTA is the better operating system, everyone knows it, its just a matter of time before they get it. Unless they like to be left behind of course. VISTA RULES........................just make sure you got the hardware for it, and do a FULL CLEAN installation, I really wouldnt trust an upgrade EVER...............the thought of merging one OS on another with each containing MILLIONS of lines of code is insane. VISTA and DX10 will PWN XBOX360 (blurry graphics on regular TV *spit*) and PS3 (much the same) and any next gen console........once the games are ready and built from scractch with Vista and DX10 and QuadCore (or more) processors in mind. Yes....................I do remember that Videoclip of Bill Gates getting a Pie in the face, ....very funny, I still have it saved on my harddrive to this day and have a series of running jokes with a buddy of mine. PIEcrosoft PIEndows etc etc. I think it was Germany or Austria though, not Italy, judging by the commentators voices. Final Comment...............Vista really lives up to its most touted feature and thats SECURITY. Solid as a Rock online. Not a single pop up, spyware, malware or anything after a week of heavy usage. XP gives me endless problems regardless of firewalls/pop up stoppers. Get Vista if you like surfing undisturbed. :D

Are GAMESPOT STAFF CRAZY??? WHAT ABOUT PC GAMES? Thats where its at this year and beyond. The next gen consoles XBOX 360, Wii, and PS3 etc are already aging technologies. I know PS3 hasn't even been released yet (here in Europe) but still, its stagnant and will shortly be superceded by the PC. Windows Vista, Directx10 and Quad-Core 64bit Processors are where its at ,as far as next gen games are concerned!! BUT, that said, it will take some time for games developers to write 64-bit multithreaded games, where each core is dedicated to and handles independently graphics, physics, A.I. etc. I'm sure we'll see some by the end of the year though. I'm not a console hater, it's just a known fact that cutting edge PC's will always lead due to their upgradability. We will be in the same boat again in 3 or 4 years when PS4 comes out along side Directx 14! COME ON ALANWAKE, DUKE NUKEM FOREVER,CRYSIS, UT2k7 AND GTA:4 on PC!! to name a few. PS. What the hell happened to CARMEDEGGON FOUR???? Such a shame. Those games were soooo fun, and would benefit from a modern day graphics overhaul.
