Ummm.......with that logic, couldn't developers just lower the PS4 resolution to match the X1 and pull out even fancier textures and effects than the X1?

yes they could? either sony knows that 1080p is a magical buzzword nowadays and they asked developers to go for that resolution, even though that would mean lowering other things as lightning/textures/etc to achieve that. or the ps4 hardware is indeed easier to develop for. or the ps4 hardware is indeed better. we can't really tell unless we see both versions in action, maybe the textures and effects aren't better at all on the x1 or maybe they are and resolution won't matter that much. i don't know yet what to believe since i haven't seen anything live.

i guess we'll see a lot in the next few years. microsoft claims that the x1 will be their console for the next 8-10years. it does support 4k output in the future. you cannot believe that the x1 is only capable of rendering games in 720p, that's just for some launch games because microsoft handed their dev kits out way too late and changed them again etc... we'll see which console will produce better looking games, who knows maybe the esram and the cloud will compensate the rest of the hardware. but that's all fiction for now

the tv settings comparison kind of works for this. the average consumer loves those dynamic contrast, color enhancements, oversharp and oversaturated look, otherwise electronic markets wouldn't present every single tv like that. i personally hate those "enhancements", since they acutally make everything worse. i prefer a warm natural picture to watch my blu rays and play my games, to get as close to the picture on my tv the director of the game/movie intended.

that said, i still cannot judge which bf4 version looks better, i think they both have their ups and downs. ps4 looks a little blurred out, but has a nice color reproduction, while the x1 version looks like the tv's sharpness was set to max to hide the lower resolution. still, some textures definitely look better on the x1. i guess i have to see them both live to make a decision.

well there are barely more than 2000 people online on the wii u, so i guess it didn't sell more than 5000-6000 copies worldwide, which is ridiculous

i'm pretty disappointed with the improvemtents of ghosts over the last entries. feels like nothing changed since black ops.

i'm gonna buy one of the next-gen consoles at launch and i will try out bf4, cause it looks really really great with that 64 player support

i'm mostly into marvel vs. capcom and its spin-offs, especially tatsunoko vs. capcom. i would love to see a sequel to that.

back in the ps2 era, my favorite fighter was soul calibur, mainly because it had the best single player campaign of all fighting games.

i have the wii u version. i skipped the last two entries so i can mostly compare it to black ops 1 and i have to say it's nearly the same. the new perk and buy system is a step back for me, because you can buy nearly everything you want after ranking up a few levels. that reduces the motivation a little bit for me to reach the next level etc. nevertheless, this game is still pure fun and fast action like i wanted it.

the graphics on the wii u are really bad, at least not noticeably better than the ps3/360 versions. it looks pretty dated.

since this is my main issue, i might consider buying it for ps4/x1 (still haven't decided yet), because it seems like it's the only shooter at the moment that supports splitscreen.

the pro contoller is the only reason i bought a wii u. i never wanted to use that gamepad since i was looking for a more classic experience to play the new nintendo games and with the pro controller i got it. i think except for the missing analog triggers, it's on par with the xbox360 controller and better than the ps3 controller.

720p lol, people were playing HL2 in 2004 at higher res than that.

and that's the point. hl2 looks like garbage (for todays standards) and a higher resolution doesn't change that. the textures remain the same. so better textures and lightning with lower resolution could look better than sacrificing details for more pixels. we'll see which console will show better graphics, but i guess just like this gen they will look nearly the same after all. exclusives will show the difference. as for now, i kind of like the graphics on the x1 better in the b4 comparison vids, but i'm more on the ps4 side in general.
