@Spartan_418: You obviously need to re-read the title, and you obviously are not familiar with this legend. This is a Chinese title, and Sun Wukong journey to the west is a Chinese legend, also the inspiration for Dragonball.
@a0me: 1.7 million households is not successful. Do you even know how ratings work? A successful show needs 6 million and up. Any other network would have cancelled a show with just 1.7, not to mention Falcon and Winter Soldier lost most viewers by the third episode.
Yeah I'll stick to watching it in HBO Max, or would you rather nobody watches the movie? I went to see Free Guy on release day, there was 12 people total in the theater. Hollywood just can't get over the fact, that they're not making huge money off this movies like before. You'll have to figure something out Hollywood, first drop the whole wokeness act, second figure out a way to make money of streaming, because this might be the new normal.
@alastor529: I think you need to read my comment again, yes Black Widow flopped hard. Scarjo is even sue over it. Shang Chi will also flop, and probably any other movie that comes out this year.
Let's be honest this movie is going to flop, it will not flop because it's a token movie Disney made for the Asian Community. It will flop because of the pandemic, I guess people are still too scared to go back to theaters, but trying to make this out to be the first ever Asian led film in history, it's just an insult to every Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan or Jet Li movie before it.
Chapek saying this is an experiment, is just his way to hide the fact, a 100 million budget movie, will flop. But this is how it's just been for every movie released following the pandemic, it doesn't mean the movies being released are bad. I do have interest in the movie, and I will watch it on DIsney plus, but I would not go to a theater to watch it.
