@CrouchingWeasel: I've been buying and playing video games for over 30 years and nothing you said makes any sense to me. Why would be okay with Playstation exclusives but not X box exclusives? They are a business and in the business of making money. Accusing them of greed makes no sense.
Also, ES: Morrowind wasn't on th PS and th PS ports of the other ES, and FO 3 were disasters. This is just a return to th status quo for Bethesda.
Length is a sign of success, but it has never been a sign of quality. Stop pretending all those long running sitcoms and dramas from the 80's and 90's were quality. And soap operas are the longest running of all TV.
@Verenti: From a video game gameplay perspective, sure, strictly speaking cyberpunk is not a genre since it doesn't tell us about game mechanics but it is a narrative genre and that is the perspective taken in this article. The latter is making the point that the narrative themes(setting, character, plot, etc) common to cyberpunk, in film, book and VG, are relevant to our times.
Cyberpunk IS a genre, a literary genre that encompasses certain themes, settings and characterizations. It's not merely a setting. Blade Runner told from the perspective of the billionaire overlord would not be cyberpunk. And you can combine genres. Shadowrun combines cyberpunk and fantasy. Blade Runner combines cyberpunk and noir. It can be difficult but the master pull it off.
