beyond only needing the classic controllers OR the GC controllers..    one wiimote+nunchuck comes with the wii..  so technically you only need 3. 

which is hella cheap compared to the 7 PS3 controllers yoiu "need" 

(thats the other thing.  Its not as if you need a full set of controllers to play a single game.)
