Considering I have two 290X's I'm expecting a 120 FPS average maxed out at 2560x1440.
I'm think of getting a either 290x or 390x, but do you think two 290x's are worth it??
SLI and Crossfire to me is only worth it if you're prolonging the life of an existing card you already own. I buy a single flagship card, wait a generation and buy another one of these cards, then on the generation after that I get a new flagship card and then repeat. So essentially I will be replacing my 290X's when the 400 series comes about.
Also it depends on the resolution you're attempting to operate games at, 2560x1440 is a hell of a lot more demanding to run than 1920x1080, also my monitor is 144hz so I want to get the highest possible framerate I can to make use of my refresh rate. If you're running 1920x1080 a single 290X or 390X would be completely fine for years to come, I would get the 390X however since it's a refined model.
grab a 970 during black friday, you won't be disappointed.
Yeah, until a game try's to take advantage of 3.5Gb's of VRAM...
I do game at 1440 so that's another reason I'm leaning towards the 290x-390x.
