This just started up recently. People are hacking their save files and getting the ability to fly, go through walls and complete invincibility. the proof is all over youtube. but i cant post it here because it would count as helping people mod. how do you guys think this will affect activision. what are your thoughts on the whole thing. its not even a little bit, its spread like a wildfire. 5 mins online and i encountered them

Androvinus
Wow this is a bit old. They patched it up with 1.30. If you manage to do it online you will only be able to play with others who are hacking. Therefore, if you're not hacking there's no way someone is hacking you. What was the person you suspect was hacking doing?

This is already on Wipeout HD Fury of all games.

Do you think this is a sign of things to come?

It's already here. Look at every sports game. Ads in games are annoying though.

What gaming genre do you think is the most competitive, "skill-wise?"

I have narrowed it down to two genres for which I believe require the most talent or skill. RTS, Fighting and FPS games.

FPS games tend to be how well you handle your hand-eye coordination, a great example of this is Counter-Strike. You can definitely tell the difference between a "pro" player and a "noobie" player. You can find many examples of skillful FPS gameplay all over Youtube, easily. A good example is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDvQknD8hno

As for RTS games, a great example are a couple of Blizzard's games. Starcraft moreso than Warcraft 3 (if only because of random item drops in WC3), though that's debatable, since WC3 is more micro focused. RTS games in general require insane multi-tasking abilities, along with great strategy and control over your "units."

See WC3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iSgwjUV750&fmt=18

Some very impressive play from some of those clips......I nearly wet myself at some moments.

See SC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqgXQZZLhzk&fmt=18

For fighters, it's pretty self-explanitory why it takes a great amount of skill. Complex combos, counters, and outplaying your opponent. There are many videos on what makes fighters great, and perhaps the most infamous: BEAST UNLEASHED.

As for the future, many gaming genres have the potential to become competitive. Namely, third person shooters and perhaps someday an MMO. What do you think about competitive gaming (e-Sports even), for the future and present? What gaming genres are the most competitive currently in your opinion?

[QUOTE="Zero_epyon"][QUOTE="o0squishy0o"] whats really different? both 3rd person shooters soooo they are very comparable ;)o0squishy0o
Uncharted is linear and this is open world. They are designed differently. A better game to compare this to is inFamous or Crackdown.

i dont think that should be an excuse personally :S I think a games graphics should be based purely on face value.

That's the thing. Linear levels allow for greater detail since they are loaded once, where as open world games have to load and render on the fly, therefore are less detailed graphically. A game's design has a lot to do with it's graphics, you can't ignore that.

Just Cause 2

-Open World

-Bigger Draw Distances

-IMO better graphics

This game looks really good for an open world game. But in my opinion uncharted looks better. But that's just in the eye of the beholder.

ok, so my friend sold me his ps3 about 1 month ago, and he only had it for about 4 months i bought it because it was a really good deal 200$ 80 gb ps3 brand new with a remote and 2 brand new games ( infamous, and killzone 2). but lately ive been wondering if i could trade in my ps3 for a xbox 360 because all of my friends play on live with xbox, and theres only like 2 people i know that use the ps3. so should i trade it in to gamestop? would they give me a 360 and enough money to balance out the games?prankzorlol
Don't trade in. You always get a lot less than what it's really worth. I would hold on to it and save up to buy a 360. That way you'll have booth it's a great opportunity. Also, I don't have many friends that play games at all but I have a blast playing online with people I meet online. Start making new friends! lol.

 You people act like Microsoft is making huge money off of repairs. I will say this right here and now. THEY AREN'T. Microsoft has lost over 1 billion dollars in Xbox 360 repairs after they extened the Red Ring of Death Warenty to three years and recently the E74 Error to three years. Microsoft even refunded people who had paid for repairs prior to them announcing the new warrenties.

DarkGamer007
And we're supposed to feel sympathy for this? It's their fault and they should pay for it and put a real effort into fixing it. I would have revamped the whole system and did a recall. Sure it may cost more but at least the issue would have been fixed for good and you wouldn't hear anything about RROD anymore.

Naughty Dog is notorious for their Pre-Rendered cutscenes. After all everyone knows that the graphics aren't going to be that great, I mean most of Uncharted 2 screen shots have been Pre-Rendered Cinematic images. No where near what is going to be In Game Play, like this one here for instance.

I mean it's obvious this isn't gameplay, notice how everyone doesn't look shiny but actually like they're wet! What's with that!? There is nothing better than people looking like they're covered in Saran Wrap.

Yup guys, sorry but this is one touched up Pre-Renedered Cutscene image, for sure.

Delsage

You know at first i thought you were serious. But after reading several post I think your joking. If you're not, this is pretty sad then lol.
