@HIT3kNology At least what I would do in a situation like this is one player asks to initiate the fusion, in this case Goku or Vegeta, and if the other one agrees, said player who requested the fusion in the first place controls the resulting character until the time of the fusion runs out or until he is knocked down. I think it would be great because it adds a risk to the fight, you control a really strong character for a limited period of time but if the time runs out you're open for a counter attack once the fusion ends and if Gogeta or Vegeto gets knocked out, both Goku and Vegeta are out of the battle.
I personally don't see the problem with it being similar to Mario Galaxy and I agree (from what I've seen) with the free falling sections having clunky controls, but I think this game should get a better score, I mean, Super Mario nowadays rarely does any innovative concepts too, it sticks with the same formula but with a new animal suit (how original). And this plot seems WAY better than Sonic 06 (not that it is really hard to do) and the game put cool mechanics such as a decent wall run and a LOT of people (including myself) don't see any problems with the levels being hard, as long it's not an unfair challenge like horrible controls, which I haven't seen in this review to be honest. I believe Mark was a little bit too harsh on the game, but I got nothing aganist him or anyone that likes Mario or felt offended by this comment.
PS:Oh, and by the way, kinda awful title for the review, I got the joke but there is always hope for the Sonic games
