[QUOTE="masterdrat"][QUOTE="XenoReseller"]Here is my rig: http://oi54.tinypic.com/1e29t0.jpg The top card jumps to 80C in a few minutes of gameplay. Any suggestions on how I could fix at home?

Can you add an intake fan on side panel?

Yeah I can, in fact I'm going out to get a 70cfm 120mm fan...Also, slight overclock @ 900Mhz. I can't move it down because those are the only two x16/x8 slots in my system. :(

But can your netbook do the 3D modelling, CGI, or CAD that my gaming computer does for work every day? I bought a desktop for unity, so that I could have everything in one spot. Separation between work and play? Why not just work in Linux and play in Windows or have two Windows installations? I'm lazy, but really that's all I have to say :D

Okay, well if you already have a TV, you bought it at one point. Where you could have just bought a PC in the first place and ignored a TV completely, like I did. Also, yes consoles are easier to get cheaper, but if you build your own PC, it may not be true. I haven't read all the comments, but my point is that it's not a valid argument to choose console gaming over PC gaming based on price when they are about even depending on your setup. If you really had to go to a console setup that's cheaper than any PC gaming rig, I still believe you should be working or studying rather than gaming. . A gaming rig can be had for the same price of a basic console setup, but as you spend more, the cost versus return on PCs is much greater. If you're not looking to buy anything better than a 26" TV, a cheap netbook, and a pre-owned 360 then by all means it'll be cheaper than a PC rig. You'll also be hindered by waiting times and over-all your work efficiency will be reduced.

[QUOTE="XenoReseller"][QUOTE="smerlus"] Amazon.com has a 4GB 360 for less than $200.a 26" Vizio for $300 and gamefly is $15.95 a month to rent out a game at a time. The only bull**** here is your post.smerlus
If you're going to settle with that, well, should you really be gaming? My thoughts on a 26" TV and a 360 to bat....Still gonna need a computer for your homework or whatever anyways.

The argument is about price. I think if you're concerned about price you're not worried about 120 GB systems, 62" 3d TV with a bose surround sound system and buying CE's of games.

Indeed it is, but even when you spend $500 for the console and tv, and I'll lower it to $300 for an abysmal netbook. Then I'll just downgrade to a 4 star computer and still match your price and maintain better graphics and more functionality. There are things I'm not allowed to mention about games that PCs can do.

[QUOTE="mattuk69"][QUOTE="smerlus"]Consoles are cheaper even more so in the US. Buy a $300 console, a $200 TV and then spend $15 a month renting a crap load of games is cheaper than just buying a $1000 PC that you used as an example.smerlus
I dont live in the US to know that's bull****.

[QUOTE="noxboxlive"]

Also the TV agrument is stupid, you already own a TV,

trugs26

I agree, that is a stupid argument. But I believe most people already own a computer (for other purposes), so isn't PC gaming very cheap then?

I don't have a TV. :/

Accesibility is the main reason why most people dont get into PC gaming. Not cost. And ingorance of course, but I think it's included in accesibility. PC gaming is simply, not for everyone. Some people won't bother to spend time and learn. Others are just...awful around computers. For example, I have this friend who bought a gaming PC 2 years ago. Now this dude has won several loca cs 1.6 and css tourneys, and together with him and some other guys we've won plenty of local DotA tourneys. Hes an excellent player, especially in cs, he could propably go pro if he wanted. Yet, up to 6 monhts ago, he used to call me on the phone every time he wanted to change his desktop background. It took him 2 hours to figure out how to import his ME save files into ME2. His typing speed is...absymal. But his reflexes and game sense are supremme. He just cant understand how to use the damn computer. He even had trouble just installing games at first. Some people just wont sit down and learn how to use one, and are better off with consoles.

True, I agree with you. However I was addressing those who specifically say it's cheaper to console game. I however, find that it's much cheaper to spend your time to learn a computer, which will benefit you in many areas, than spending extra money on all the requirements of a console. ------ Smerlus, what about your computer to watch youtube and do your homework?

I've been struggling with many friends who console game. When I ask them why they choose console gaming they respond with, "It's cheaper to! I can't afford a high end PC." Now, I don't mind people who console game because they prefer it, but I do have to say, anything you can do on a console, you can do on a PC... . Here is my point though... If you want to PC game, you can drop 1000 USD on a system(I will elaborate at the end) which will play all the newest games on maximum settings at 1920x1200(I am doing exactly that). You don't need anything else, the PC will allow you to game, watch/listen to various forms of entertainment, and work. However, if you console game, you will spend 2-300 USD on a console. Then you will be required to buy a TV, most will select a larger one which will result in spending around 500 to over 2000 USD. Next you will want a sound system, probably surround sound, let's go with a low range 200 USD product. Wait a minute, how are you going to browse the web or check your Facebook? Oh gosh, you need a computer, well you can spend around 300 USD on a cheap netbook which probably won't satisfy you, so why don't you go spend 500 on it, maybe even 700. . Is there anything else you need as a console gamer that a PC gamer already gets? Well, maybe a heater... In the end a console gamer can expect to spend 1400 USD for the low end TV and mid-range computer to accompany your 200 USD console. This won't get you multiple screens with high resolutions, amazing graphics, customization, or quality entertainment from that computer of yours. In comparison, you are spending 1000 USD on a high end computer which will allow you to play on high resolutions at maximum graphics, excellent customization including customization that will make it feel exactly like console gaming, and it will allow you to browse and view content faster and more pleasing due to the larger screen area and less hassle. It's all in one too, meaning you don't have to fumble around. Now lets see the computer system which I spent 1000 USD on: CPU: i7-2600k RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz GFX: EVGA 560 Ti FPB + other non performance specific parts. I didn't even make the best choices either I had unnecessary costs which I could have avoided. I could have bought an i5-2500k, Generic 8GB RAM, TWO 560 Ti cards, and a cheaper motherboard. This would have amounted to even more gaming performance for the same price. To be fair, I already had TWO monitors and a speaker system costing a total of 400 USD. Which is still the same price for so much more. . Even under the circumstances of you buying an old CRT TV, using it's built-in speakers, and not buying a computer(which isn't really plausible) You are saving a little over 1-200 USD which is a minuscule amount to save for how much quality and enjoyment you will lose. Not to mention you could have just as easily lowered the PC specs to an 800 USD or even 600 USD gaming PC which will be better than that console of yours. Conclusion: 1400 USD PC setup vs 1400 USD console setup = PC is extremely better at the same price. 1400 USD PC setup vs 1200 USD console setup = PC is impossibly amazingly better at a dismissively greater cost. 1200 USD PC setup vs 1400 USD console setup = PC is much better, at a lower price. 1000 USD PC setup vs 1400 USD console setup = Real savings, still a great setup which provides a much nicer ratio of enjoyment vs cost. TL;DR Pc r chepr tahn consoul(lolgetit) fro so much betar fun. Thoughts?
