I see that perhaps the government is correct in assuming that people who play games are just plain stupid and since the games are violent. XCOM being a game that has real-world reported backing is dismiss for games that are just a fantasy in the head. At least with a turn-based game (like Civ V or XCOM) there is some real world idea to have a Civilization and Society to live in, not some imagined FPS game that just looks good or is an escape for some being violent. Too bad you can't get off of this rock of a Planet and go bang your cups somewhere else in the Universe.
There is also humor in life, and usually makes for a better game. If you think a computer will ever gain consciousness without the added influence of those who program them, or think some organic kind of computer is ever coming out, then you missed life already in this Universe. Except life is more than such a narrow field of view.
Humans are just not hunks of meat in this real world. Some of the violence in video games (computer games) is not needed. It adds nothing to the game and desensitizes people. I could go on and on about how humans live in a comfort zone in this Solar System and in this Universe, but that you should realize just does not give humans "freedom" to do any action. Some of the so-called violence that could happen in real life is needed to know because just talking about it may not do it. Yes, there are those type of stupid people in this world, and there are also those disturbed individuals on this planet also. After hearing about some of these people on the News, I doubt if a video game had much to do with it though. Still, with some of the violence shown in video games it just is not needed and adds nothing to the game. It all depends on the majority of people deciding what humans are allowed to get by with.
Being more humble and being more aware of how it affects younger people may be needed because I still see older people doing videos on youtube that should retain a rating system just like movies do, most of it showing a computer game that was already rated by the system put in place, and parents having to control what their kids may see accidently or on purpose by those younger kids. Growing up is not done in an instant in a humans' life and still there seems to be people not concerned with what they are doing in real life when grown up.
In real life in some places, younger kids are seeing this violence happen way too much and may already need help.
It a real concern when adults have not grown up either and support this kind of world where stubborn minds and stubborn attitudes make for war.
People may find out though that humans are not needed in this Universe to make it exist.
Here is something to think about. Physicists have just proved that Special Relativity works also at speeds above the Speed of Light, just like it works with speeds below the Speed of Light. The only place it does not work is when near (how near? above and below) the Speed of Light and at the Speed of Light. Perhaps it just takes longer in the future to come out with the next understanding of advancing physics and improvements take radically a lot longer than previously thought. It is not a convenience Universe, there is a Comfort Zone called an inhabitable planet like this one you are on. The traveling out in space-time may take longer to achieve and probably will not happen quickly. Ya, all the inhabitants of this Planet would first have to resolve to continue life and then there is money to pay for it all. If there is intelligent life in this Universe, it may not be even close to what life is considered to be on this Planet, and if very far advanced may resemble nothing that we know of that warrants us considering it life in the first place. Robots not withstanding. Decisions, decisions, decisions will have to be made, otherwise there be no need for a Universe and Life to exist in the first place. I think there is a time limit though to any of it.
