Yeah, believe it or not, I was putting out my opinion as well. It's a comment section. As for an objective stance, I really don't think you'd like pages upon pages of how I feel on a certain topic.
"reviewers aren't trying to get you to not buy a game, that's silly." - shingui5
Reviewers recommend avoiding certain titles. They also recommend good ones. In my opinion, a small percentage of video game profits come from people who've done their research on a particular video game they had their eye on (i.e video game websites such as GameSpot, GamesRadar, and IGN).
The combat in Dead Island is simplistic, at times clunky, though easy to use.
Since when was Dead Island about the storyline? Not every game, or movie, tries to re-incarnate The Walking Dead?
"And don't try enlisting a few friends for some four-player co-op: it doesn't make the game any more exciting. Sure, having a few friends around makes those hordes disappear a little faster, and there are some extra quests you can take on, but the core experience remains as glacial as ever." - Mark Walton
If the single-player is just as dull as the multi-player, in your opinion, wouldn't it be the more intelligent option of choosing more people over none. That way, at least, other people are suffering through fetch quests with you? Making the experience less painful? To me, that's how I always felt.
Your review did not convince me in not purchasing Dead Island: Riptide
I happened to enjoy the first, and I get the feeling the second is as good as ever.
