At least they're actually advertising the console now and it shows in this past weeks sales, the doom and gloom stuff is too premature as of right now like you said.
The Wii-U sold 270k consoles last week which puts it around 4 - 4.4 million units sold. Killing off the Wii-U would be dumb for the sole reason that those people who bought the system and supported them are shit outta luck. Screwing those consumers will cause distrust with the brand, and the perfect example is Sega. They put out a system and instead of supporting it they'd scrap it and put a new one out, when they finally got it with the Dreamcast people were not willing to risk buying the system and having it be irrelevant in a years time.
@Greyskin1 Look at what the other consoles are currently offering. CoD, BF, AC, Killzone, Forza and the two new IP's (Ryse/Knack) are considered nothing special. With Nintendo's IP's they add a new gimmick and base the game around it to make it feel fresh (Mario 64 = 3D Platformer, Sunshine was based around the "Fludd", the Galaxy games used gravity ect) while the ones i mentioned above will tweak some stuff and improve graphics but that's about it.
The only reason the Xone/PS4 are selling as of right now is hype, I've seen a good chunk of people say they're bored of the games on them already.
@Manatassix I said in a comment below somewhere this video tells us what we already know. I acknowledged the Wii-U has its fair share of issues but i won't ignore that they're trying to change that situation.
I wouldn't say biased since i'm a PC gamer and own the 360, i can play the games i want such as The Division, The Witcher 3 & others on my PC. So i guess you could say it depends on where you're coming from, the current exclusives on the PS4/Xone are not worth dropping $500+ dollars on.
@ExplicitMike "My Point" is that as of right now the Wii-U actually has a decent library of current and upcoming games. Many of my points above could have been in this video but are completely ignored hence why i said "flame bait"
On another note Nintendo has actually started advertising the system as well which is also good.
It would have made sense to do this video mid 2014 to see what happens instead of right now.
Now most these games are coming out early 2014 in quick succession, Nintendo has stated to the press that they haven't shown everything off yet because they're saving them for future directs.
Miyamoto is working on a new IP and Reggie is going to be at the VGA/VGX to give the premier of a new game so it should be something good.
Now lets look at the 2014 library so far on the other two consoles... a bunch of games that you can get on the 360/PS3 with BF4 being the only one what will offer something different compared to the current gen version, a few exclusvies that actually scored lower then the Wii-U's launch line-up.
In terms of future exclusives early into 2014 there isn't much either, Infamous?
